the doors will remain shut very tightly,
after being closed.
A further object of the invention is to provide a door catch which may be readily and quickly adjusted vertically to overcome the wear occasioned by the constant opening and closing of the door. The catches which are generally used are cast with the-front of the boiler, and after a very short time wear away and become of no use, but by the use of my improvement this is entirely overcome by adjusting the lug vertically so that it meets the lower edge of the door.
With these ends in view, this invent-ion consists in the details of construct-ion and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then specifically designated by the claim.
In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may under stand how to make and use the same, I will describe its construction in detail, referring by letter to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, in which Figure 1, is a perspective view of a door and the front of a boiler showing my improved door catch applied thereto. Fig. 2, an enlarged side elevation of the door catch. Fig. 3, a front elevation thereof, and Fig.4, a side elevation of a modified form of my door catch.
In carrying out my invention as here embodied, A represents the front face of a boiler having a door B secured thereto by the hinges C and provided with a hook or handle D.
E denotes my improved door catch, comprising a body portion F having a slot G formed therein, the rear portion of the body and its upper end having an indent I for a purpose to be hereinafter described. With the upper portion of the body is formed a head J, having a curved face K extending from the front to the top thereof.
L represents a bolt mounted in theface of the boiler A and adapted to register with the slot G in the body of the catch, the head of said bolt engaging the front face of the body at both sides of the slot, for holding the catch in any adjusted position. The catch is placed just below the door B, the upper portion of the head engaging the lower edge of the door, and when said door is closed the flange thereof engages the space formed between the wall of the indent I and the face of the boiler, holding the door closed until slightly raised. In closing the door the lower edge will engage the rounded face K, riding upon the same until it engages the top of the head. In practice, as the door or catch wears away, the bolt L may be backed out slightly to remove the binding effect of the head upon the body F which will permit the catch to be adjusted vertically, and when the correct adjustment is obtained the bolt is then again threaded into place until the head engages thebody, which will securely hold the catch in position.
In the modified form of my door catch as shown in Fig. 4:, F represents the shank having a thread Gr thereon, and with this shank is formed the head J having a curved face K extending from the front to the top thereof. To use this form of my device a slot is formed in front of the boiler a short distance below the edge of the door and by placing the shank through this slot and threading a bolt thereon, said bolt resting against the inner surface of the boiler front to draw the head of the catch against the outer face of the boiler front. This catch may be adjusted vertically a distance equal to the length of the slot in the boiler front.
Of course I do not wish to be limited to the exact details of construction as here shown, as these may be varied within the limits of the appended claim without departing from the spirit of my invention.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and useful, is
In a catch for doors, a body, an integral head formed with said body having a curved portion extending from the front to the top thereof, then inclined downward to its rear In testimony whereof, I have hereunto aflixed my signature in the presence of two subscribing witnesses. 1

edge, and means for fastening said catch to a door supporting wall adjacent the door, the lower edge of said door adapted to ride upon the curved portion and When closed rest upon the inclined portion as shown and for the purpose set forth.
