ROIBERT DE SENNEVOY, OF PARIS, FRANCE.
BRUSH.
To all whom may concern f Be it known that I, ROBERT DE SENNEVOY, a citizen of the French `Republic, residing at Paris, France, have invented a certain new or Improved Brush, of which the following is a specification. i
This invention relates to a brush with detachable series of tufts, in which all the brush sections are held set and secured in a brush back, by means of a key having the shape of an elongated wedge which, on being placed in position, forms one of the sections or elements of the brush and is itself held in place by jamming, without it being `necessary to use either` screws or pins or any other xing parts.
In the construction in question, it is suiiicient, for lenabling the brush to be easily cleaned or for one of its series of tufts to be replaced, to withdraw the wedge for releasing the other elements ofthe brush back. The assembling of these element-s is effected with the same ease.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 shows a bottom view of a brush according to this invention, Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same, Fig. 3 a cross-section, and Fig. t shows in perspective the various parts of the brush' separately.
According to this invention, the frame or mount e of the brush comprises a recess arranged along one of its faces and constituted by a ledge b arranged near the circumferen tial edge of the part of the mount or back which is intended to receive the series of tufts. This ledge b is provided in the center of its end, opposite the handle, with an opening in the shape of a dove tail.
The series of tufts are-mounted on lateral elements a arranged in two rows symmetrically at each side of a central element 7L. The connection of the elements a and h side by side forms a sectional plate capable of filling exactly the recess formed in the backl oi the brush.
The lateral elements a are provided at their edge corresponding to the ledge b of Specification of Letters Patent.

opposite directions, so as to have the dove tailed shape of the opening i.
The
The fitting of the brush is very easily i effected by first placing the lateral elements a so that their inclined edges c engage with the ledge b of the mount e, and then by introducing the central element 'la throughthe opening z' into the intervalor gap left between the two series of elements. After the element 7i has been pushed right in, its outer end closes the opening z' and is iush with the edge of the mount. The element 71, then plays the part of a connecting key which itself remains fixed in the locking position in the mount, owing to the lateral pressure which `it produces against the lateral elements a.
I claim:
In a brush, the combination with a back, having an undercut ledge arranged near the edge of the said back, and provided with a dove-tailed opening; a series of lateral brush sections provided with beveled ends adapted to engage said ledge; and a central wedge-shaped brush section adapted to be inserted among the lateral brush sections through the dove-tailed opening in the ledge. In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
