To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, EMANUEL Hornsing at Anderson, in the county of Madison and State of Indiana, have invented new which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to boxes, more paran object to provide a box made from a single piece of material and adapted to con tain wearing apparel and the like.

In a large number of boxes now generally used, in department stores and the like, for containing wearing apparel, the body of the box is fashioned from one piece of material, preferably cardboard and the cover for the body is fashioned from a second piece of material. In a box of this kind each of the corners must be provided with looking lugs for securing portions of the box body and cover body to provide sides for the box body and overlapping portions for the cover body, thus necessitating a large amount of material to properly construct the two parts of the box, namely the box body and the cover body. Furthermore, boxes of this nature are not substantially reinforced and the sides and ends of the box, as well as the bottom of the box body and the top of the cover body tend to bulge outwardly and tear, any bulging of this kind being also adapted to disengage the locking members at each of the corners of the box.

In my device I employ a box portion and a cover portion, both made of an integral piece of material, preferably cardboard, the mentioned box portion and cover being provided with fewer locking members than the usual box described heretofore. By provid ing the cover portion to swing on the-body cover por-. tions, my box'can be conveniently carried in the same manner that a suitcase or valise is carried, portions'of the strap being 'arranged to constitute grips and the-free end of the cover-port-ion being adapted to lock with the free end of the box portion.

Fig. 5 is a plan view of the blank from which the box is folded. Referring to the views and more particularly to Fig. 5, I provide an integral piece of material 10, a portion 11 thereof consti-' tuting a box body and a portion 12 thereof constituting a cover body. The box body 11 is provided with ends13 and a side 14, the ends 13 being formed of weakened portions 15 and the side 14 being formed by a weakened portion 16. In a similar manner the cover body 12 is provided with ends 17 and a side 18, the ends 17 being formed by weakened port-ions 19 and the side 18 being formed by a weakened portion 20. The ends 13 of the box body 11 are provided with integral locking tongues 21 adapted to extend through slits 22 in the side 14 when the ends 13 have been bent laterally to the bottom 23 of the box body, the side 14 being also bent laterally so that the locking tongues 21 can be inserted in the slits 22. and terminates in a grip 36, the grips 34 and 36 being of equal length and arranged so that the person carrying the box. can conveniently secure both grips with one hand. It will be seen that the strap 32, at the points Where the same passes through the outer side of the portion 31, acts as a reinforcement for this part of the box and prevents the portion 31 from bulging when articles of apparel are placed within the box.

I claim:-
