Be it known that I, ANDREW H. ROCKWELL, of v Harpersvlle, in the -county'of Broome and State of New York, have invented av new'and useful' Improvef ment iu Check-rein Connector.;4 and I do hereby/de-l clarethat the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use4 the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing forming 'part of this specification.

My invent-ion has forits object to furnish a simple,

convenient, and effective device for connecting theI check-rein with the main rein, which shall'- be so constructed as to enable the check-rein to be secured toy the main rein adjustably, without sewing, forming holes in, or otherwise weakening the said main rein and lt consists in the check-rein connector, constructed as hereinafter more fully described.

A is a short t.ube,lnade in 'two semi-cylindi-ical part-s.

Upon one of the side edges of each of the parts A is formed an eye, al', to receive the screw by which the said parts are secured to each other and clamped to the rein.

B is the body of a buckle, which is made with a loop ateach end, andwith ears upon the lower sides otits side hars, to t upon the ears of the parts A,

so as tobe secured to said parts by the samescrew that connects the said parts to each other, and clamps them to the main rein.

C is the buckle-tongue, through the eye of which passes the screw that connects the buckle-body, or frame B and the parts A to each other, so that'all the parts of the device are -connected to each otherand l clamped to the main rein by a. single screw.

It will he observed that one of theV loops of the piece B serves as a buckle, and the other loop as akeeper for the end ofthe check-reiu strap when buckled to the device.

By lthis construction the device may be shifted to adjust the relative lengths ofthe check and main An improved check-rein connector, formed by the r combination of the semi-tubes A, provided with ears e', double-looped part B, and buckle-tongue C, with I each other, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set fort-h.l
