-Be-it known that 1, CHARLES H. CLARK,

-Jr., a citizen of the United States, and residing at New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented contain new and useful Improvements in Mechanicah Toys of which the following is a specification, such as will enable those skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to mechanical toy devices, and the object thereof is to provide an improved toy of this class which is designed to represent a golf player, and which will also amuse both old and young, and which issimple in construction and may be easily manipulated and which is alsoLcomparatively inexpensive. p

The invention is fully disclosed in the following specification, of which the accompanying drawing forms a part, in which the separate parts of my'improvement are des ignated by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a side view of my improved toy; Fig. 2 a front view; and, Fig. 3 a cross section on the line3-3 of Fig. 1. l

Having fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-latent, is:'

1. A golf playing toy device, comprising a base provided on one end portion with a figure which represents the player, and rearwardly of said figure with a raised support,

a rotatablerod-which passes through said support and through the top body portion of said figure and is provided forwardly of support, a rotatablerod passing through said support and the front end ortion of which extends forwardly of said gure and is provided with a downwardly and forwardly directed member provided at its lower end with a golf club, and means for operating 7 said rod.

In a toy device of the class described and adapted to represent a golf player, said device comprising a base'provided on its front end portion with a figure which represents the player-and rearwardly of which is an upwardly directed support, a rotatable rod mounted in said support and extending forwardly of the figure and provided at its front end with a downwardly directed member having a golf club, and said member being also provlded at its lowerend with upwardly and laterally directed arms, and means for operating said rod. 4. In a toy device of the class described and adapted to represent a golf player, a base provided in its front end portion with a figure and rearwardly thereof with a support, a rotatable rod mounted in said sup port and extending upwardly and forwardly of the figure and provided at its front end with a downwardly and forwardly directed member adapted to carry a golf club, a clutch device mounted on said rod rearwardly of said figure, another clutch member slidablymounted on said rod rearwardly of said clutch device, a spiral spring mounted on said rod between said clutch member and said support and secured to both, said rod being also provided rearwardly of said support with a ratchet disk and said base being provided rearwardly of said support with a spring arm adapted to engage said disk, means for holding said arm out of engagement 'with said disk, and means for limiting the rotation of said disk in both CHARLES II.
