TROUBLE-LAME.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 2 lililfi.
Application filed January 23, 1914. Serial No. 813,885.
To ailwhom it may concern:
.Be it known that we, FRANK A. VVALTERS, WERNER M. BECKMAN, and AARON W. Koran, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have in vented certain new and useful Improvements in Trouble-Lamps; and we do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use -the same.
Our invention has for its object to provide an improved trouble-lamp adapted to be carried on a hat, cap, or head-gear; and it is especially adapted for automobile drivers, to be used in looking over the machine, in case of break-down, or any other trouble. By
carrying the lamp on the head, the wearer is free to work with both hands, and, owing to the position of the' lamp, the light always shines directly on the work.
To the above end, generally stated, the invention consists of the novel devices and showing the exposed parts in section, and
with the so-called flap turned into a different position; and Fig. 3 is a view diagrammatically showing the electric circuit, battery cells, lamp, and switch.
The numeral 1 indicates, as an entiretya 1- rectly over the vizor, a flap 2. Separable fasteners 3 are provided'for holding the flap either turned back and secured to the crown, as shown in Fig. 2, or pulled down, as shown in Fig. 1, and secured to the vizor of the cap. Formed in the band of the cap 1, and extending from the front partway around on each side, thereof, is a pair of-reversely formed, long, narrow battery cell-holding pockets 4. The openings into these two pockets 4 are spaced apart, one from the other, and are so arranged as to be covered by the flap 2, when the same is pulled down and secured to the vizor of the cap.
.An electric light font is attached to the band of the cap, intermedia-tely between the openings into the two pockets 4:. This light font comprises an electric .lamp 5, a lamp socket 6, a caning 7, and a lens 8. The light font is detachably secured to the cap by means ofa plate 9, sewed or otherwise permanently secured to the cap-band, and having a threaded socket 10, into which the screw stud 11 of the lamp socket 6 is screwed.
Removably mounted in each pocket -'l is a tremely simple, is thought to be highlyetlicie'nt for the purpose had in view In, case the light font and the batteries are attached to a headgear, the same may be carried in the pocket, or other convenient place, and placed on'the head only when the same is to be used.
What we claim is:
i. The combination with a head-gear having a pair of reversely extended pockets, of an. electric lightfontattached to said head gear between the openings into said pockets, battery cells concealed in said pockets, and an electric circuit including said battery cells, and the lamp of said light font.
2. The combination with a vizor cap having a pair of reversely e tended pockets in its band, a flap secured to the crown of said .cap, and a separable fastener for securing said flap to the viz-or of said cap, of an electric light font attached to the band of said cap between said pockets and under said fiap,.battery cells concealed in said pockets, and an electric circuit including said battery cells, and the lamp of said light font.
3. The combination with a vizor cap havins, a pair of reversely extended pockets in its hand, a flap secured to the crown of said cap, and a separable fastener for securing said flap to the vizor of said cap, of an e1ectrio light font attached. to the band of said cap between said pockets and under said flap, battery cells concealed in said pockets,
and an electrlc circuitincluding said battery cells,- the lamp of said light font, and a switch.
In testimony whereof We afiix our. signs tures in presence of two Witnesses.
