Be it known that I, IsAAo LnvIN, a citizen "of the United States of America, residing at Brooklyn, Kings county, and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements inSectional Garment- Forms, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
This invention relates. to improvements in adjustable garment-forms, the particular object being to provide a sectional garmentform that can be adjusted at the neck, waist and hip portions as well as longitudinally to increase the length of the waist.
My improved form is made up-of a plura-ityor" sections,'preferably rigid, consist ing' of hip, bust and shoulder portions, each of said portions being divided into subsections which are adjustably connected to gether. The hip, bust and shoulder sections as a whole are connected to a supporting post which consists of a plurality ofindependently operable members, one of said members being connected to the hip portions and another to the neck-sections in a manner to render the portions connected thereto adjustable inwardly or outwardly. To increase the length of the waist I employ a novel method of rotating the supporting nember to which the hip portions of the form are connected. By virtue of the fact that each portion of the form is made up of adjustably connected sections 1 am able to alter the contour of the form independ 'ently of the adjustable support for the form.
Another advantageous feature of my invention is the provision of simple ineans for adjusting the contour or shape of the bust or breast portions of the form, besides which I have provided special auxiliary adjustments of the hip portions of the form.
Further features of improvements will hereinafter appear.

As herein embodied, my improved garment-form consists of a bust portion A, a hip portion B, and a skirt portion G, all of which are carried by supporting post D mounted on a stand E. Referring to Fig. 11, the supporting post E consists of a plurality of rotat'ably connected members, namely, a primary tubular member 1, which rota-tably supports a secondary threaded tubular member 2, and 'a threaded sleeve 3 carried by the secondary tubular member 2. Each sub-section 43 and 43 of the shoulder sections are connected together by slotted plates 49, having in engagement therewith binding screws 50, each plate being pivotally secured at one end to the section 43 the section 43 carrying the screw which passes through a slot 51 in the plate 49. Each shoulder section 43 is likewise connected by a slotted plate 52 to the hip section 45", the plate being pivotally connected at one end to the hip section 45 The shoulder section 43' carries a binding screw 53 which passes through the slot 54 in the plate 52. In addition to the toggle or universal connection 46 each shoulder section 43 is provided with a similar toggle or universal connection 55 connecting it to the adjacent bust section 44. Each toggle 46- and 55 is pivotally connected to a shoulder and bust section by binding screws 56 and 57 and to each other by binding screws 58. hen the binding screws 56, 57 and 58 are released the shoulder sections can be moved away from the bust sections to broaden the shoulders, or moved vertically to raise the shoulders, after which the binding screws can be tightened thereby holding the parts in an adjusted position.
Should I desire to broaden or raise a shoulder without increasing the dimension of the form at the region indicated by F, or
' approximately the bust region, I would release the binding screws 50 and move the shoulder section upwardly as shown by dotted lines 59, Fig. 1. Should I desire to increase the dimension at the region F without changing the shoulder, as per dotted lines 60, Fig. 5, I would release the screws 50 and 53 and move the section 43 outwardly, swinging the plates 49 and 52 upon their pivotal points. By this means I am able to change the contour of the form at the shoulder or at the bust line independently of any adjustment of the shoulder sections as a whole, or independently of each other. The combination of the universal connections 46 and 55 and the independently adjustable shoulder sections 43 and 43 makes it possible to alter the form at the points represented by these adjustable sections 43, 43 to meet most any requirement. As the plates 49 and 52 are flexible they can be sprung outwardly, in line with the axis of their points of securement to their respective sections, to increase or alter the curvature of the bust, as shown by dotted line 61 Fig. 3) independently of any adjustment obtained by manipulating the adjustable post D. i
Each bust section 44*, front and back, is connected to the bust section 44 by flexible slotted plates 62, each plate 62 being pivotally connected at 63 to the bust section 44". The section 44 carries a binding screw 64 passing through the slot 65. Each bust section 44 is connected to a section 45 by flexible slotted plates 66 pivoted at 67 to the hip section 45 A binding-screw 68, carried by the section 44", passes through the slot 69 in the plate 66. These sections can be adjusted independently of each other and also of any adjustment obtained by manipulating the post members in a manner described for the sections 43 and 43 An important feature of my invention resides in the multi-sectional hip section 45. Each section 45 of the hip section is connected by slotted plates 70 to the adjacent hip section 45 so that the section 45 can be moved away from the hip section 45 as shown by dotted lines 71, Fig. 5. Each plate 70 is pivotally connected at 7 2 to the hip section 45 The hip section 4F carries a. binding screw 73 which passes through a slot 74 in the plate 70. Each hip section 45 is likewise connected, at the top thereof, to the adjacent hip section 45 by flexible slotted plates 75 pivotally connected at 76 to the hip section 45", a binding screw 77 on the section 45 passing through a slot in the plate 75.
The skirt portion C consists of a plurality of slotted bands 76 and vertical strips 77 secured thereto, the band members being slidably connected together at 78. hen the form is to be changed at the region G the band members 76 can be moved one upon the other to be adjusted in connection with the adjustment of the hip sections. The form can be adjusted at the hip region as indicated by dotted lines 78, Fig. 5, without changing the dimension at the region Ur.
The hip sections 45 are located at the sides of the sections 45 and constitute inserts or sub-divisions thereof which normally lie flush with the sections 45 (Fig. 3). In other words, a part only of the hip sections 45 are rendered independently adjustable by the sub-divisions 45.
I am aware that it is not new to provide a garment form with a hip section or portion which is flexibly connected to the body section and composed of sub-sections connected laterally to each other by flexible devices permitting expansion, all of the said sub-sections being individually adjustable. This construction I do not claim, but
WVhat I claim is:
1. In a garment form, a hip section consisting of relatively fixed and independently movable subdivisions, in combination with longitudinally slotted horizontal straps, each of which is pivoted to the lower part of one of said fixed subdivisions and connected through its slot by an adjusting screw to the lower part of one of said movable subdivisions, and additional slotted straps, each of which is arranged obliquely downward and outward and connected at its upper end to one of said relatively fixed subdivisions and connected through its slot by an adjusting screw to the'upper part of one of said movable subdivisions for the purpose set forth.
2. In a garment form, a hip-section consisting of relatively fixed subdivisions and independently movable subdivisions, in combination with a bust-section, connections between said bust-s ection and said hip-section for adjusting the latter vertically, longitudinally slotted horizontal straps, each of which is pivoted to the lower part of one of said fixed subdivisions and connected through its slot by an adjusting screw to the lower part of one of said movable subdivisions, and additional slotted straps, each of which is arranged obliquely downward and outward and connected at its upper end to one of said fixed subdivisions and connected through its slot by an adjusting screw to the upper part of one of said movable subdivisions for the purpose set forth.
3. A garment-form comprising a plurality of adjustable sections, means to adjust said sections, consisting of a supporting post comprising a plurality of threaded tubes one over the other, one of said tubes being'provided with right and left hand threads, nuts carried thereby, links connecting said nuts and the neck portion of said form, another tube being also provided with right and left hand threads and nuts carried thereby, links connecting said nuts and the hip portion of 'said form, means located at the top of the form to rotate the first named threaded tube, means operable from the top of the form adapted to rotate the other tube, and a threaded tube to move said previously named tubes away or toward each other to adjust the length of the waist portion of the form.
4. In combination with a garment-form 7' having a hip portion and a bust portion adapted for vertical adjustment relative to each other adjustable connecting devices between said hip portion and bust portion, a supporting post therefor consisting of a tubular member, a threaded nut carried thereby, a threaded post engaging said nut, means carried by said threaded post connecting said post and the neck portion of the form, and means to rotate said threaded post whereby said bust and hip portions can be adjusted relative to each other.
5. In combination with a sectional garment-form, an adjustable support consisting of a tube provided with right and left hand threads, a threaded nut carried thereby, a
hollow threaded post engaging the said. nut,
means to rotate same, a plug carried by said tube provided with an angular opening, an angular rod passing loosely through said hollow post and vslidably engaging said plug, means to rotate said rod, a thrustcollar carried by said rod and abutting the lower end of said threaded post, a sleeve surrounding said threaded post provided with right and left hand threads, and means 7 to rotate said sleeve.
6. In combination with a sectional garment-form, an adjustable support consisting of a tubular member consisting'of a plain section and a. section provided with right and left hand threads, a clamp rigidly connecting said sections, a post adapted for movement longitudinally of the first named tubular section, and a sleeve carried by said post provided with right and left hand threads. 7

In combination with a sectional garment-form, an adjustable supporting post consisting of a tube provided with. right and left hand threads, nuts carried'by said threads and connected to the hip portion of the form, a hollow threaded post carried by said tube adapted for longitudinal movement therein, a sleeve carried by said post section and a hip section a supporting post w consisting of a tube provided with right and left hand threads, nuts carried by said threads and connected to the hip section of the form, a threaded post engaging said tube, means carried by said post connected to the neck portion of the form, and means to rotate said threaded tube upon the post in engagement therewith whereby the said bust section can be adjusted vertically.

10. In combination with a garment form, a supporting post therefor consisting of a fixed member provided with a plate at the upper end, a rotatable member, a flange car ried by the rotatable member resting upon said plate, retaining lugs carried by said plate and overlapping. said flange, and
means to lock said flange and plate together at will. 7 v
11. In combination with an extensible supporting post consisting of independently rotatable sections screwed together, the body of a garment form provided with two super posed series of sections or sub-divisions above the hip section thereof, and means connected to one of said post sections for operating some of the said sub-divisions to expand or contract some part of the upper portion of the form as desired.
12. In a garment-form, a hip-portion provided with movable inserted sections, which are connected near their lower ends by a pivot fixed in one of said sections to the adjacent sides of said hip-portion, in combination with a slotted plate and screw for adjusting the upper parts of said inserted sections outwardly from said sides, with the surface of which sides the said inserted sections are normally in contact.
13. In a garment form, a hip-portion provided with movable inserted sections, each of which sections is pivotally attached at both ends to the proximate hip-sections, in combination with means connected to the upper pivot of each section for permitting the adjustment of the upper end of said section outward and downward or inward and upward at will and means connected to the lower pivot of said section for permitting the adjustment of the latter horizontally inward and outward.
14. In a garment-form, a hipportion provided with movable inserted sections, each of which is connected near its upper end to one of the sides of said hip-portion by an obliquely arranged longitudinally slotted plate and clamping screw for adjusting said section outward and downward from said side, the lower part of said section being connected to said side by a longitudinally slotted plate and clamping screw and the latter plate being pivoted to said side as set forth. 15. In combination with a sectional garment-form, a supporting-post therefor, means carried by the post to adjust the sections of the garment-form, a supportingbracket carried by each section provided with slots, a frame carried by each bracket, and provided with a slot positioned transversely of the slots in said brackets, securing bolts passing through said slots, and links connecting said frames and the adjusting means on said post.
16. In a garment-form, bust-sections and shoulder sections, each section consisting of an upper and a lower sub-section, in combination with toggle arms connecting each upper bust sub-section to the proximate upper shoulder sub-section and similarly connecting' each lower bust sub-section to the proXimate lower shoulder sub-section, slotted up right plates pivoted to the lower bust subsections and provided with clamping screws for adjusting said upper bust sub-section obliquely outward and upward as permitted by the yielding of the toggle arms, and similar plates pivoted to the lower part of the form and provided with screws for likewise adjusting the lower bust sub-sections.
