DANIELG. BUTTS, NEW' ORLEANS, LOUSIANA, ASSIG'NOR; TO THE IVORY GAR/ TER COMPANY, NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA, A CORPORATION OF LOUISIANA GARMENT-SUPPORTER.
To' all Inkom. it may Concern:
Beit known that L'ADANIEL G. BUfi'rs, a citizen of the United States, reslding at New Orleans, in the parish of Orleans and State of Louisiana,'haveinvented certain. new and useful Improvementsin Garment- Supporters; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same reference being had to the accompanying` drawings, forming a part of this specification, and to the figures and let ters opfeference marked thereon.
T hisinvention relates to garment supporters and more especially to that type of supporter designed foi-supporting hosiery, the objects of the invention beingv to provide a more simple and convenient device for the purpose mentioned than those now in use and a device o'l such character that it may be made cheaply' and of materials which will la'st indefinitely and not have a destructi ve influenceoue upon the other. Y
The invention consists in certain lnovel details of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts, all as will now be described and pointed out particularly in the appended claims. 4
Referringlr to the accompanyingdrawings; .Figure 1 is a perspective 'View of a. supporter embodying the present improvements. Fig. Z'is a-,side elevation of the clasp with its suppmtingr member and the coupling plate'and hook. Fig. 3 is an elevation of the. friction buckle. Figs. 4, 5, G, and 7 are similar views of the coupling plate, hook, claspba'se, and clasp plate, respectively.
Similar letters of reference in the. several figures indicate the same parts. v
The type of supporter illustrated in the accon'lpanying drawings embodies, generally speaking, a limb eneirclingweb A, of usual,
construction and material, one. end of the web having attached thereto a hook B while the opposite end is doubled upon itself and secured to a friction slide buckle C. The loop formed by"\the doubled end of the web embraces and is itself included within a slot Z in a. coupling plate D, said slot d being centrally widened-as at d' for'the reception of theend ofthe hook B as will be readily understoodi from Fig. 1.
Immediately below' land preferably central of the bottom of the coupling plate', an apei`- ture d2 is `f med for the reception orpas Specication of Letters Patent.

In the upper portion of 'the clasp base there are formed two apertures, one aperture G being in the offset end F and the other aperture-G being in the bent portiorf 'and said apertures are adapted for the passage of one end of the supportingr member E .andfor the. attachment of theopposite end of saidsupportiug member where the parts are assembled in the manner shown `in Figs. 1 and 2. -V The clasp plate H. is a relatively small and preferably substantiallyA rectangular fiat plate having near its lower end an aperture' l for the reception of the offset end F2 of. the base.l said aperture Hi, being Yof sufiicient width and size to permit the portion f2 of the base and a garine'nifxwhich may surround that portion to pass intovthe aperture as shown in Fig. 2. The -upper portion of the clasp plate is provided i''with an aperture lz. for the attachment of'the end of the supporting,r member E and it will be particularly noted that the dimensions of the plate are such that 4'when theparts are in garment engaging position as in Figs. 1 and 2, the upper end or edge of the plate below the upper offset end of the base and preferably below the lower aperture in said ase.
