ANDREW H. LOTT, 0F LOUIS, MISSOURI.
BRACELET.
To all whom it may concern:
This invention relates to a certain new and useful improvement in bracelets or wristornaments, the principal object of my present invention being to provide bracelet-links of simple and inexpensive form and construction, and of neat and pleasing appearance, which are adapted to be threaded upon, and displayed attractively upon the wrist by means of, a ribbon or' otherflexible band, and which are readily and conveniently attachable one to the other in forming the completed bracelet.
With the above and other objects in view, my present invention resides in certain novel features of form, construction, arrangement, and combination of parts, all as will hereinafter be described and afterward pointed out in the claim.
In the accompanying drawing, which shows my invention in preferred form, Figure 1 is an edge elevational view of a bracelet formed of or comprising links embodying my invention; Fig. 2 is a perspective view of one of my new bracelet-links; Figs. 8 and 4 are, respectively, side elevational and plan views of a pair of my new bracelet-links, illustrating the manner of attachably connecting the same together; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the wrist-fastening end-link of the bracelet; Fig. 6 is a side elevational view of a pair of links, illustrating the manner of attachably connecting the wrist-fastening end-link of the bracelet to, or detachably disengaging the same from, the opposite end-link of the bracelet; and Fig. v7 is a perspective viewof my new bracelet-link in connection with, and threaded upon, a displaying ribbon or band.
Referring to said drawing, in which like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the several views, my new bracelet comprises a plurality of hingedly connected links A. Each link A, which may be inexpensively stamped out of any suitable metal, comprises a body-portion 1 preferably rectangular in shape in plan view and of any suitable thickness, and upon which,

as illustrated in Fig. 2, may appear any suitable or desirable design, monogram, or the like. Adjacent one end, body-portion l is transversely cut away intermediate its side edges toprovide a hinge-slot 2 and an end-bar or hinge-pintle 3. At its opposite end, body-portion 1 is preferably integrally provided with a longitudinally projecting extension bent around upon itself to provide a hinge or attaching-hook 4, hook 4 having a width slightly less than the width of "slot 2 and being of such diameter relatively to end-bar 3 as to neatly fit slot 2 and hingedly engage with end-bar or pintle 3 of a second link A. The distance between the bill and shank of hook 4 being less than the thickness of body-portion 1 at said end-bar 3, body-portion 1, on-its reverse face, is suitably transversely recessed or grooved, as at 6, in alinement with slot 2 and at one side bar 5 thereof, to facilitate ready detachable connection of two links A, as hereinafter more fully appearing.
In use or operation, to detachably connect two links A together, one link A is positioned approximately fiatwise relatively to, and parallel with, a second link A, as illustrated in Figs. 3 and 4, with the side-bar 5 of first link A fitting partially into engagement at its groove 6 with hook 4 of second link A. The first-link A being now moved sidewise toward the second link A, slot 2 of first link A is brought into registration with hook 4 of second link A. On swinging first link A in a circle outwardly from second link A, as indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 3, hook 4 of second link A will operatively enter slot 2 and thus hingedly engage with end-bar 3 of first link A, the two links being thereby detachably hingedly connected together. To cletachably disconnect the two links, a reversal of the operation described is only required.
To display my new link A upon a ribbon or other flexible band, I provide an additional link B illustrated in Fig. 7 This link B is also preferably rectangular in shape in plan View and of the same thickness as link A. At its opposite ends, link B is transversely cut away to provide slots a and end-bars 33 corresponding with the slot 2 and end-bar 3 of link A. On its opposite side faces, inv alinement with its slots 2 2 link Bis similarly grooved 'or recessed, as at 6*, to'correspondingly fa ilitate the detachable e g g m nt of nk B at either end thereof with the hook 4 of a link A. When in attached relation with the hook at of a link A, it will be clear that the free slots in link A and in link B, when links A and B are so connected, provide passages through which a ribbon or other flexible band C may be readily and conveniently threaded, as illustrated in Fig. 7, for displaying the link A attractively upon the wrist.
To fasten several links A in connected or bracelet-form upon the wrist, I provide a third link D illustrated clearly in Fig. 5 and which, similarly with link A, is provided at one end with a slot 2", a hingepintle or end-bar 3 and a recess or groove 6 on, its slot-side-bar 5", whereby the link D may be correspondingly readily detachably connected with the hook 4 of a link A. At its opposite end, link D is, however, pro vided with a hook 7 having an elongated spring-bill 8, whereby link D, as illustrated in Fig. 6, may be easily releasably engaged with the slot 2 of the opposite end-link A of the several connected links to convening-hook of reduced width to fit the hingeslot of and, thereby engage with a second link, the distance between the bill and shank of said hook being less than the thickness of the end of said body-portion having 4said hinge slot, said bodyportion being transversely provided on one face with a groove in alinement with said slot to slidably accommodate, as described, the sidewise detachable pivot-engagement with said end-bar of the attachinghook of a third link.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification.
