ELASTIC APRON-BELT.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that we, ALFRED C. TOREM and W'ILLIAM J. LIsK, citizens of the United States, residing at Seattle, in the county of King, State of Washington, have invented a new and useful Elastic Apron-Belt, of which the following is a specification.

This invention aims to provide novel means for assembling an apron yieldingly with the body of the wearer.

With the above and other objects in view which will. appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

In the drawings :Figure 1 shows in fragmental front elevation an apron to which the present invention has been applied; Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the apron, showing the device constituting the subject matter of the present invention applied thereto; Fig. 3 is an elevation of the belt proper; Fig. 4 is a perspective showing one of the buckles employed on the belt.

The belt comprises a resilient strip 1, provided at one end with a loop 2 engaged with the intermediate bar 3 of a buckled. The strip 1 is bent upon itself as indicated at 5 to engage the eye (5 of a hook 7. The end of the strip 1 is passed beneath one of the end bars 8 of the buckle 4, across the top of the intermediate bar 3 and beneath the other end bar 8, as shown at 9. A loop is formed in the end of the strip 1, the loop being denoted by the numeral 10. The loop 10 is engaged through an eye 12, constituting a part of a fastener 11, the fastener 11 including a head 14: provided with a slot 15 which is reduced toward the end of the fastener.

and the longitudinal edges of the apron at the rear are denoted by the numeral 21.

In operation, the fexible tongues 16 are disposed inside of the apron 20 at the rear, the fasteners 11 being disposed upon the outside of the apron. The studs 17, together with portions of the apron 20, are engaged in the slots 15 of the fasteners 11. The ends of the belt are crossed on each other as clearly shown in Fig. 2, each end of the belt being engaged between the head l-it and the eye 12 of the fastener 11 on the other end of the belt. The belt is continued around the body of the wearer and is united at the front by means of the hook 7 and the ring 19.

When the device is mounted as shown in Fig. 2, it will be seen that it will be practically impossible for the studs 17 to be disengaged from the fasteners 11, the studs being held in place by the overlapping portions of the belt, the end portions of the belt not being likely to shift transversely because the said end portions are engaged between the eye 12 and the head It. The apron may be removed readily by detaching the hook 7 from the ring 19.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is A belt comprising a pair of front interengageable fastening devices; a pair of strips each of which is provided at one end with a slide buckle, each strip being passed slidably through one fastening device and thence being extended through one buckle, the other ends of the strips being adapted to be crossed upon each other between the rear edges of an apron; and grips upon the said other ends of the strips, the grips being adapted to engage the rear edges of the apron, the buckles being movable toward and away from each other to adjust the size of the belt.
