To all whom t may concern.' l
Be it known that I, PALMER O. PoULsoN, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Roswell, in the county of Chaves and State of New Mexico, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Insoles, of which the followingis a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing. y
This invention relates to insoles for shoes and has for its object the production of a simple and eiicient in-sole which may be quickly and efficiently applied to a' shoe and constitute a yielda'ble cushion support for the foot. j i
A, still further object of this inventionA is the production Vof a pneumatic. in-sole, so arranged as to constitute a cushion-support for the foot, under the heel and toe of the foot, theV portion of thein-sole being Hat which" extends under the toes of the foot.
With these and other objects in view this invention consists of certain novel'com inations, constructions, and arrangements of parts as will be hereinafter fully described and claimed.
In the accompanying drawing: Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a shoe, showing the cushionapplied thereto. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the inner portion of the cushion, the outer casing being removed therefrom.- Fig. 3 is a plan view of an embodiment-ior modified form ofthe invention.

Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals it will be seen that 1 designates the shoe within which the in-sole is. placed. The in-sole comprises an outer` covering 2 which is preferably fitted snugly over ..the inner rubber tube v3 andheld .upon thel outer face thereofA by means of any' suitable adhesive material. The'v rubber tube 3 coin,- prises the upper section 4 and .the lower sec- ,tion "5, which sections are cemented closely` together around the periphery` thereof as shown bythe numeral 6 in Fig. 2, and the sections 4 ,and 5 are cemented together along pay, lineindicated by 'the numeral 7 inFig. 2

upon the outer or forward end of the in-sole. It will therefore be seen that a pneumatic cushion is produced by forcing air between the upper and lower portions 4 and 5 of the in-sole and after the air is forced therebetween, the edge of the in-sole may Ibe sealed at the pointJ of entrance of the air. It will be seen that the pneumaticl tread 9 will constitute a very efficient pneumatic cushion for -thepheel and ball ofthe foot, thereby producing an easy tread.
In Figs. 3 to 6 inclusive, there is shown a slight embodiment ofthe invention wherein 'the lower portion 10 and the upper portion 11 are Acemented together around the periphery thereof and also cemented together upon the adjacent faces for leaving `an oval pocket' l2 near the forward end of nected tothe crescent-shaped pocket 14 byV means of the passageway 15. A projecting tube 16 communicates with the crescentshaped pocket 14 for facilitating the inflation of the pockets 12, 13 and 14, and this tube 16 may bebentbacklwardly as indicated in dotted lines in Fig. 5 and may extend under thev in-sole for preventing the escapement of air from the tube 16.
From the foregoing description, it will be seen that a very simple and eilicient pneumatic vin-sole has been produced for constituting a vsoft detachable tread to be applied within a shoe. It should be understoo'd thatl the upper and lower. portions 10 andv 11 may be'covered by means of a fabric lining or cover when s o desired, lsuch as is illustrated in Fig. 1.
