Be it knoivn that I, PAUL B. Finnen, a citizen lof the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of illinois, have invented a certain neiv and useful improvement in Tracker-Boards and Illusie-Sheets, of which the following is av full, clear, concise, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying f drawings, forming a part of this specification.

My invention relates to instruments employing traveling music sheets and tracker oards therefor, such for example as piano players, player pianos and the like.

rlhe invention contemplates a novel form of tracker board having particular advantages and especially useful in connection with a certain type of instrument to be referred to hereinafter.

ln the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a vieiv of a portion of a music sheet and tracker board embodying my present invention; F ig. 2 is a similar view of a modified form; 3 is a longitudinal section through one of the sets of ports of the tracker board; and F ig. el is a transverse section of the tracker board.

`Referring first to F ig. 1, show a tracker board 1 and a music sheet 2 traveling over the saine. The tracker board 1 is provided with apertures or ports 3& 82 which are connected together in pairs as shown in Fig. 3, each pair being connected ivith a duct or channel 7. Apertures or ports 1 l are arranged in the rear of the apertures Sa, an aperture l being in the rear of one of the apertures Pf- 8a of each pair. A pair of apertures ia-3 with an aperture 1l lie in a single note zone.

The music sheet 2 is provided in this form with perforations 5 5 and 6 6. r`fhe apertures 5 5 open one of the front perforations 3'L1 of the various pairs, and the perfora tions 6 6 open the other or associated aperture 8a of the pairs and also the corresponding or associated rear aperture. The tracker board and music shee thus set forth can be used in various Ways and in connection With various instruments. @ne very advantageous use Would be in connection ivith the apparatus of Patent No. 899,469, issued September 22, 1908 to Pierce, or in connection with the apparatus of latent No. 1,183,210 issued May 16, 1916, to inyself.

ln Fig. 2, 1 show the same tracker board 1 but a different form of music sheet 21. 1n this music sheet there are perforations 5 5, as before, and there are also perforations' s a which are relatively wide and so open not only the rear apertures 1 1 but both of the corresponding front apertures 3a 31, instead of only one of the latter as in the foregoing' modiiication.

lt will be understood that changes and modications can be made Without departing from the invention.

What I claim is:

1. A tracker having a plurality of ports side by side for a single note, and channels uniting said ports into a single unobstructed passage, and another port in transverse alinement with one of the first named ports for modifying the action of the same note sounding mechanism.
