An objectoffthe invention is to provide a toy of simpleand relatively durable structure which comprises a body portion and armspivotally attached'thereto. The toy 1s in the general figure of'a -grotesque'man and` one legis `fixed with relation to the `body and the other leg pivotally connected therewith. A' spring connectsthe inner ends of the legs together whereby the inner vportion of the pivotedvleg is normally held towardthe in-y ner portion of the'fixed leg. Links are pivotally connected with the pivoted leg and the arms whereby the arms are caused to swing when the pivoted leg is swung with relation to the fixed leg. A rod is pivoted at the back of the toy and arranged to swing f over the head of the figure. The said rod is provided with an angnlarly disposed end adapted to engage the free end portions of the arms whereby the said rod is swung over the head of the ligure. In one form of the invention a body simulating a club is attached to the arm or pivoted thereon and may swing upon the arm as the arm vswings over the head of the figure. In another form of the invention bodies are attached to two rods which have appearance of balls juggling when the arms manipulate the rod.

Fig. 4 is a front view of a modification with parts removed. Fig. 5 is a top view of the toy as shown in Fig. 4:. Fig. 6 is a side view of a modified structural detail.

As hereinbefore stated the toy is in the form of a grotesque figure and its body comprises a back plate 1 and a front plate 2. A xed leg 3 is positioned between the front and back plates and a pivoted leg 4L is also positioned between the said plates. A rod 10 is pivoted to the back plate l and the lower portion of the head 7 of the figure and the said rod is provided at its upper end with a forwardly disposed extremity 11 which is disposed transversely across the paths of movement of the arm 8. A club l2 is pivoted upon the extremity l1 of the rod l0. Consequently it will be seen that as the arms are swung as hereinbefore indicated they alternately strike the extremity 1l of the rod 10 whereby the said rod is swung and the said extremity is carried over the figure head 7 of the toy. After the extremity 11 leaves one arm it strikes the other arinr and inasmuch as the said arms are swung alternately the said extremity swings back and forth over the head of the figure. ln view of the fact that the club l2 is pivotally mounted upon the extremity il the said club swings during the swinging movement of the arm and simulates the swinging of an Indian club. f

In the form of toy as shown in Fig. 4f, two rods 10 are employed and the `said rods are pivotally connected with the back plate and head block of the figure. The last mentioned rods are also provided with forwardly disposed extremities similar to the extremity il hereinbefore described and the links 9 are so connected with the arms 8 that the said arms swing simultaneously in an iipright direction and simultaneously in a downward direction. The rods 10 are separated so that the extremity of one rod bears against the upper edge ot' one arm and the extremity of the other rod bears against the upper edge of the other arm. Consequently as the arms move in an upright direction the rods are moved from one arm to the other across the upper portion of the head of the ligure. The said extremities are provided with blocks 13 which simulate balls and consequently the toy as shown in Fig. 4 when operated has the appearance of a tigure juggling the balls in a path over the head of the figure.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, it will be seen that a toy of simple and durable structure is provided and the same includes attractive features inasmuch as the arms are caused to move to give the toyy the appearance of swinging a club or juggling balls according to the arrangement of the rods mounted on the body thereof.

Having described the invention what is claimed is l. A toy in the form of a ligure having a body portion, a leg fixed with relation to the body portion, a leg pivoted to the body portion, a spring connecting the legs together, arms pivoted to the body portion, links connecting the arms with the said pivoted leg, a rod pivoted to the body portion and having an angularly disposed end located in the path of movement of the said arm.

A toy in the Jform ofa figure having a body portion, a leg fixed to the body portion, a leg pivoted to the bodyI portion, a spring connecting said legs together, arms pivoted to the body portion, links pivotally connecting the arms with the pivoted leg, a rod pivoted to the body portion and having an angularly disposed extremity located in the path of movement of the arms and a club pivoted on said extremity.
