MASK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Mar. 6, 1917.
Application filed December 6, 1916. serial No. 135,296.
To all whom it may concern.
Be it known that we, CHARLES V. ARBO- casr and GEORGE WESNER, citizens of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburgh, county of Allegheny, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Masks, of which the following is a specification. v
This invention relates to an attachment for masks and has for its object to provide means, in a manner as hereinafter set forth, for connecting the mask in position upon the face of the wearer.
Further objects of the invention are to provide an attachment for the purpose set forth which is simple in its construction and arrangement, strong, durable, efficient and convenient in its use, readily connected with a mask, and inexpensive.
.Vith the foregoing and other objects in view the invention consists of the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts, as hereinafter more specifically described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein is shown an embodiment of the invention, but it is to be understood I that changes, variations and modifications can be resorted to which come within the scope of the claims hereunto appended.
'In the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding 'parts throughout the several views Figure l is a side elevation showing a mask connected to the head in accordance with this invention.
Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional. View of a mask.
Referring to the drawings in detail 1 denotes the mask having each side edge, near its upper end, formed with a rearwardly extending downwardly curved arm 2 and to the inner-face of said arm 2 is secured a reinforcing or stiffening strip 3 which conforms in contour to the shape of the arm 2 and is of a length so as to project against the inner face of the mask at the rear thereof.
The arms 2 are termed attaching members and when the mask is mounted upon the head 4, the depending portions of the arms 2 engage back of the ears and maintain the mask in position.
What we claim is 1. As a new article of manufacture a'mask having its body provided with a pair of integral attaching arms, said arms extending rearwardly and having their free ends downwardly curved and said arms formed of the same material as the material of the body, and a stiflening member secured to the inner face of each of said arms.
2. As a new article of manufacturea mask having itsbody provided with a pair of integral attaching arms, said arms extending rearwardly and having their free ends downwardly curved and said arms formed of the same material as the material of the body, and a stiffening member secured to the inner face of each of said arms, said stiffening members conforming in contour to the shape of the arms and of a length to extend on to the inner face of said body.
In testimony whereof we afliX our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
CHARLES V. ARBOGAST. GEORGE VVESNER. Witnesses:
