UNITED STATES NICEOLAS LAUER, OF DANSVILLE, NEW YORK.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,751, dated March 19, 1872.
' drachms; oil bergamot, one drachm; andoliveoil, one thousand drachms. This forms a salve, and is useful for the cure of skin diseases and also for the removal of dandruff.
The oxide of zinc acts as a mild tonic, desiccant, and absorbent. The sal ammoniac is a stimulant and resolvent, and possesses cooling, cleansing, and healing properties. The
subacetate of copper is a detergent, escharotic, external stimulant, and removes surface deposits. The olive-oil relaxes the skin and serves as a vehicle or diluent. Mutton-tallow softens and heals, and the bergamot perfumes.
I have found the above-named proportions to give the best results, but I do not confine myself to the exact proportions given. Neither do I confine myself to the bergamot-oil, as this may be omitted or some other perfume substituted in its stead.
I claim as my invention A medical salve, composed of the ingredients herein named, mixed together in about the proportions set forth.
