LEON B. YEISER, 0F CLEVELAND, OI-IIO, ASSIGNOR T0 GLAUBER BRASS MANUFAC- TUBING COMPANY, OF CLEVELAND, OHIO.
REGULATING SHOWER-HEAD.
Application filed August 16, 1917.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LEON B. YEISER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Regulating Shower-Heads, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a regulating shower head for baths, and the object of the invention is to provide a simple form of de-,
livery head for the water supply connections above a tub or bath compartment, whereby a heavier or finer spray or shower of water may be delivered under the control of the occupant of the bath by turning a regulating device embodied in the shower head itself.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is a side view of the shower head secured to a supply pipe, and Fig. 2 is a section centrally through said head. Fig. 3 is a transverse section of the head on line 3-3, Fig. 1. Fig. 4: is a perspective view of the spinning valve member.
The invention comprises a hollow bellshaped head 2 having flat wrench-engaging faces 3 at its upper and smaller end and screw-threads at externally at its rim or larger end. A perforated bottom member 5 is removably secured to this screw-threaded rim by a screw-threaded flange 6 and a central integral boss in this bottom member has a screw-threaded bore in which a screw stem 8 is held upright for vertical adjustment. The exposed end of the stem is provided with a corrugated finger grip 9 and the up per end of the stem supports a flaring or cone-shaped valve member 10 in rotatable relation to the internal flaring sides of head 2 opposite the end of supply pipe 11. Member 10 serves to spread the water uniformly within the head and promotes the discharge of water at the circumference of perforated member 5 where ordinarily a stronger flow would occur at the center of said member. Sleeving of the spreader Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 25, 1919.
Serial No. 186,468.
member 10 loosely upon the stem also permits it to spin or revolve under the pressure of the water with an advantage effect on the distribution, while the working of the spreader member 10 and the amount of water discharged is regulated by screw stem 8.
What I claim is:
1. A shower head for baths comprising a hollow body flared to a gradual taper internally and having a perforated bottom, a Water spreading and regulating member located in the s1nalleportion of said body and gradually enlarged from top to bottom in correspondence with the taper of the body and adapted to promote a graduated discharge of the water past the same to said bottom, and an adjustable screw stem extending through said bottom into said water regulating member and having said member free to rotate thereon.
2. A regulating shower head comprising a hollow body of substantially bell shape having a water intake in its top and a perforated bottom to efieet a shower discharge, a free-revolving member within the reduced upper end of said body opposite said intake, and means extending through said bottom and into said valve and adapted to adjust said member to eifect a finer or heavier discharge of water about the same.
3. A regulating shower head comprising a hollow, substantially bell shaped body having a perforated bottom and a waterspreading member in the reduced upper portion of the said body in spaced relation to the inside wall thereof and adapted to govcm the flow of water through the body, and a screw stem threaded in said "bottom and having said member loosely supported thereon and adapted to adjust the same to govern the flow of water, the said stem having a finger grip beneath said bottom.
Signed at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga, and State of Ohio, this 14th day of July, 1917.
LEON B. YEISER.
