Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 130 194, dated August 13, 1872.
clare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents in- Figure 1 a perspective view of the bench folded, and in Fig. 2 a side view set up.
This invention relates to an improvement in what are known as wash-benches, used for supporting wash-tubs, but applicable for other purposes; the object being to construct the bench so as to be folded in small compass and adjusted to different heights when set up. The invention consists in the top and crosslegs pivoted together and provided with the means, substantially as hereinafter described,
by which the bench may be readily adjusted to different heights.
A B are the two legs of one side each side formed from two cross-legs, A B, pivoted together at a. Extending up a top, C, is piv0ted to one pair of legs at d. 'Upon the under side of the top, or at other convenient point, several notches, 1, 2, 3, 8%., are formed, either which will set onto or engage the corresponding p 'jection on the other pair of legs, as seen in Fig. 2, where it is represented as engaged in the notch 5 adjusting the bench to the highest elevation, and in broken lines at the other extreme or lowest elevation, inter-' mediate notches, it will be understood, adjust to intermediate elevations.
I do not wish to be understood as broadly claiming a table formed by cross-legs and a hinged top, as such I am aware is not new. I claim as my invention- The herein-described bench, consisting of two pairs of cross-legs, AB, and top C, pivoted together and made adjustable by several notches, l, 2, 3, 8w, substantially as described.
