`teau, in the county of Teton and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Electric Flash Light Holders, of which the following is a. specication.
This invention relates to new and useful A'improvements in holders, and the primary Object of the invention 1s to provide a novel and eiiicient type of holder for electric flashlights,-'whereby the same is adapted to be positioned on .a wearers belt, and is so connected that it is adjustable in various positions so as to hold the light at the desired angle for any of the various purposes for which the same is used.- c This type of holderwill be -found despecially adapted for holding the light at the desired anglek so as to leave the users hands free, for dressing wounds,

In describing. my invention, shall refer to the drawings in which similar reference characters are designated by similar parts` 4throughout the veral views.
The numeral Vdesignates a belt or the like to which it is desired to `fasten the Hashlight. .The device is supported on the belt by a spring metal clip2, which is bent sub-- tantially U-sha ed, and has its opposite sides the opposite sides -of the belt as clearly shown in Fig. 2' of the drawings. This Iclip permits the device to be attached to the belt at any desired position, or enables the device to be applied to vari- -ous other supports.
Projecting from the outer side of the clip 2 which is designated bythe numeral 3,
' is a rotatably mounted rod 4C, having its inner end reduced as shown at 5, and its outer end enlarged and formed with a ball 6 on the extremity thereof. Positioned on the reduced portion 5 of the rod4 is a disk 7- having inturned edges that carry a ratchet 8 and these inturned edges also contact with the side 3 of the clip so that the main portion of the disk? is spaced Jfrom the side 3 ofthe holdin-g clip, while positioned in said spacel is a spring pawl 9 that is secured at one end to the face of the clip, while the opposite end has a projecting spur 10 thereonv engageable with the ratchet 8. The disk 7 is rotatable with the rod 4, and it is obvious that the pawl 9 isstationary on the plate, and hence forming a lockthat will hold the rod in the various positions in which the same is rotated.
Engageable with the ball 6 on the outer end of the rod d, is a socket 11, which is secured to the light holder which is formed of a metal strip 12 that receives therein the conventional type of electric iiash light 13. rlhe extremities of the strip ,12 are connected together by adjustable' fastening means,
which comprise a spring pivoted hook 14 that is adapted t0 be positioned through any one of spaced openings 15 in said strip.I The hook is connected with one extremity of the strip 12,` while the openings 15 are positioned on the opposite extremity. If desired, vthe shape of the strip 12 may be` changed, so as the same will accommodate an electric Hash lightof the Hat typef In Fig. i of the drawings l have shown the device formed with the` awl and ratchet mechanism and disk-.elim'mated and only the ball and socket connection between the holder and clip used to carry out -thedesired adjustment. form is' simple, and may be employed if' desired.

From the above description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it is thought that a clear and comprehensive understanding of the construction, and operation of my invention may be had, and while I have shown and described the device as embodying a specic structure, I desire that it be understood that such changes may be made in said structure as do not depart from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
Having fully described my invention, what I claim is new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
In a device of the character described, in combination with an attaching body, a rod having its inner end rotatably connected to the body, a disk carried by the rod having its outer edge turned inwardly and contacting with the adjacent face of the body and also provided with a circle of ratchet teeth, a holder connected to the outer end of the rod, and a resilient pawl arranged in the space between the inner face of the main portion of the disk and the adjacent face of the attaching body and. having its curved spring body secured at its inner end to the attaching body and terminating at its outer end in an engaging head designed to coact with the ratchet teeth so as to in hereto.
