DISPLAY-STAND. A
Be it known that \\f'e,'\V1LL1AM A. J. Lows and JOSEPH I-I. LONG, citizens of the United States, residing at Kingsport, in the county of Sullivan and State of Tennessee, have invented new and useful Improvements in specification.
DisplayrStands, of which the. following is a This invention relates to improvements' in `display l stands, morel particularly designed for the display of fruit. Y Y
One of the'principal objects of the 1nvention is. tolprovidea wheeledstand having a receptacle for receiving the fruit and an.
upright member carried by the stand and provided with means for suspending bunched fruit, such as bananas.
Another object of the invention isto provide a'simple and effective arrangement of parts whereby the 'structure is held in assembled position with the use of but afew bolts,
Still another object of the invention is to provide hoisting. means for lifting the bunches of fruit to the' suspending means on the upright. ,E
The invention also consists in certaun other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying' drawings and specifically/pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing our invention in detail, reference .will be had `to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, in wh1ch:--`
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the 1nvention;
Fig. 2 is an enlarged View, partly in section, of the upper part of the device; Fig. `3 is a section on line 3-3 of Fig. 2;
, Fig. 4 is a section on line 4--4 of Fig. l;
Fig. 5 is a sectional detailed view of one 'corner of the stand.
In these views 1 indicates a tubular memberwhich has its lower end provided with a .coupling 2 which carries four coupling arms 3. l These arms receive the inner ends of the horizontally-extending tubular members 4 which have their outer ends curved downwardly as at 5. These ends rest upon a rectangular frame 6 formed of a metal strip with its corners bent to provide at Specification of Letters Patent. Patented DE@ 30, 1919. Application led June 9, 1919. Serial No. 302,824.
bers 4 rest. These flat portions are provided with holes through which the shanks of the casters 7 pass into the ends of the members a.. In this way the frame 6 is con; nected with the ends of the members 4.
A r box-like receptacle' 7 rests upon the horizontal members and the bottom of this receptacle is provided with an opening through which the tubular member 1 passes. The upper end of they tubular member 1 is provided with' a coupling, 8 upon which rests the top 9 and said top is also supported by the four 'legs 10. Each of these legs has its upper end suitably connected with the top and its lower end bent at right angles to provide a horizontal portion l1 which rests upon .the bottom of the receptacle and then the strip forming the leg is bent upwardly at an incline as at 12 and boltedto the tubular member 1. Bolts 13 ass through the horizontal parts 11 and the 4ottom of the receptacle into the horizontal members 4.
The tubularupright member 14 has its' passing through an opening in- This cap member is provided the sockets being .open at theupper end of the cap. The side sockets are adapted to receive the bowed members 2l, which are preferably formed of tubing, and these bowed members are provided with the caps 22 which are screw-threaded to their free ends and these caps carry the hooks 22. The centralv socket 18 receives the hoisting standard 23 which has its upper end bent at n right angles and the two arms of which are connected together by the brace 24. This standard is adapted to receive the pulley 25 for the hoistingcable. The bowed me1nbers 21 are connected together by the triangular-shaped braceI plate 26 which is bolted to tbe said members.
It will thus be seen that the stand may be easily moved from one place to another by reason of its wheeled base and when the receptacle 7 is filled with fruit .or other articles the weight will prevent the device from being tilted over by the weight of the bunches of bananas suspended from the hooks 22 or while they are being hoisted into position. As the cap member is rotatably supported, the bunches of bananas may be moved to a position where the bananas may be easily removed from the stems. The top 9 will prevent anything from dropping olf the bunches of bananas into the reeeptable and also acts as a table when desired.
lWhat we claim is l2 A device of the class described comprising a stand, an upright member carried thereby, a cap member rotatably mounted on the upper end of the upright member, said cap member having vertically disposed sockets therein, one of which is located in the center and the others in the sides, bowed members havin the Shanks engaging the side sockets, hoo is carried by the outer en ds of said members and a hoisting standard mounted in the central socket.
2. A. device of the class described comprising a stand consisting of a central tubular member, horizontal members connected with the lower end thereof and having their outer ends curved downwardly, a rectangular frame engaging said ends, casters hav ing their shanks passing through the frame into said ends, a receptacle mounted on said horizontal members and having a hole therein through which the tubular member passes, a top resting upon the tubular member, legs connected with the top and extending into the receptacle and having upwardly inclined portions having their ends secured to the tubular member, and bolts connecting the said legs to the bottom of the receptacle v and to the horizontal members.
In testimony whereof we aiiix our signatures.
