Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. AvIs, a citizen of the United States residing at Hamden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Pull-Straps for Laced Shoes; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanyingdrawings and the characters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, and which said drawings constitute part of this application, and represent, in-

This invention relates to an improved pull-strap for laced shoes. Wearers of laced shoes frequently experience the misfortune of breaking a shoe-lacing, and usually at a time when it is not convenient to secure a new lacing. The object of this invention is to form the usual pull-strap for laced shoes,

with a pocket in which a lacing may be,

placed and so as to be always ready for use if required; and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims.

In carrying out my invention, I employ the usual pull-strap 3, commonly attached to the upper edge 4 in the rear of a shoe, and to one face of this strap I connect a strip 5 of fabric corresponding, preferably, to the fabric of which the strap is for1ned, so as to provide a pocket 6 into which a shoe lacing 7 may be placed. Any desired means may be provided for closing the pocket. As

herein shown, the strip 5 is provided at its upper end with a button-fastener 8 of usual construction, adapted to engage with a spring-post 9 secured to the strap. By thus providing the pull-strap with a pocket for an extra lacing, the wearer of the shoe always has an extra lacing at hand for use as occasion may require.

'I claim:

The combination with a pull-strap for laced shoes, of a strip secured at its lower end and sides to the said strap, whereby a pocket is formed between them; and means for detachably connecting the upper end of the strip with the said strap.
