To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Loom T. LA PAUGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at l tica. in the county of Oneida and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in N ursing-Bottles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

My invention relates to a nursingbottle and I declare the following to be a full, clear, concise and exact description thereof sufficient to enable anyone skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings in which like reference characters refer to like parts throughout the specification.

The object of the invention is to provide a nursing bottle that can be attached readily to a tape or band which is secured to the sides of a cradle, baby carriage or any other article, whereby to prevent said bottle from dropping and breaking, as well as to be located in such manner that it can be reached easily by the infant, thus avoiding the ne-. cessity of constant watchfulness on the part of the motheror nurse.

Furthermore, the means for holding the bottle is so arranged as to automatically incline the mouth piece or nipple at an angle upward when the same leaves the mouth of the infant and thereby is adapted toprevent the contents of said bottle from trickling down upon the clothes of the infant or the covers.

The object will be understood by referring to the drawings. in which:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of a nursing bottle. showing the same attached to the side rails of a cradle, here illustrated in fragment;

Fig. 2 is an elevational view of the nursing bottle;

Fig. 3 is an elevational view of a modified form of nursing bottle; showing a piece of tape about to be attached;

Fig. 4 is an elevational View of the nursing bottle illustrated in Fig. 3, showing the same turned at a slightly different angle;

Fig. 5 is an elevational view of a still further modified form of nursing bottle.

Referring more particularly to the drawings, a glass nursing bottle is represented by -1- to which bottle is attached in a re movable manner an ordinary rubber nipple 2, The means for suspending the bottle --1-- embodies ears or clips 3-3 which are made of glass and cast or formed integral with the sides of said bottle -1-. The ears 33 are located diametrically opposite each other and a little nearer the top of the bottle 1 than the bottom in order to throw the center of gravity on the side nearer the bottom for a purpose to be described hereinafter.

Each of said ears 3 has an opening at 6 adapted for the insertion edgewise of a tape 8. The opposite ends of said tape 8 are fastened to the vertical bars 9-4) of a cradle by being wound therearoundand the free ends thereof secured back upon the intermediate portions of said tape 8 by safety pins 10-.-10. Although the ends of said tape 8 are shown here, as being fastened to said bars 9 of a cradle, obviously they may be fastened -to the like members of any member in which the child is placed.

Ordinarily, the tape 8, when once fas tened to the bars 9 of the'cradle is left thus secured. The bottle -1 can be detached therefrom, however, for refilling by pressing together in two different places corresponding to the location of the ears 3 the opposite sides of the tape 8 and. then, pushing the pressed part out through the openings (36 of the ears 3-43. The bottle --1 is replaced by again pressing the opposite sides of the tape 8 in the same manner as before and, then. inserting the pressed part through the openings (3(i.

The bottle -1- will hang normally in the full line position illustrated in Fig. 1, whereby its nipple, 2 will be slightly elevated to prevent the contents from trickling down upon the garments of the infant or upon the bed clothing. For this purpose,

the tape 8 supports the bottle -1-- just bei yond its center of gravity toward the top portion. It may be tipped by the infant into the dotted line position illustrated in Fig. 1 when said infant desires to feed therefrom or it can be moved from side to side of the cradle along the ta )e 8.

The bottle illustrated in 1* igs. 3 and 4 shows a modified manner. of attaching the ears, which are here numbered 15. The cars 15 are cast integral with the glass bottle 16 in such manner that there is left an opening at 17-17, whereby the tape 8 can he slipped edgewise up between the ears and the adjacent surface of the bottle 16 through said openings li ll'. when fasteningsaid bottle 16 to said tape Fig. shows a still further modification embodying ears formed integral with the glass bottle 21. The cars 2d however; provide no openings for the edgewise insertion of the tape t but rather contemplate the insertion of one of the free ends of said tape 8 through the elongated'slot 22 formed in each instance between the ear 20 and the adjacent surface of the bottle 21.

l. in a device of the class described, the combination of a tape supported in substantially horizontal position" a nursing bottle, means on said bottle for adjustably holding the same in direct contact with said tape whereby said bottle nia be held in predetern'iined position at any oint between the ends of said tape.

2. in a device of the class described" the combination of a tape supported in substantially horizontal position, a nursii'ip, bottle, means connecting said bottle and tape for adjustably holding a portion or said tape in peripheral contact with said bottle whereby said bottle may be held in predetermined said tape.

3. In a device of the class described comprising: in combination a nursing bottle having circumterentially disposed members forming band retaining guides a substantially horizontally disposed band passing through said guides and about the intermediate periphery of said bottle whereby said bottle may be held in predetermined position on said band.

l. in a device of the class described, the combination of a flexible tape adapted to be supported in substantially horizontal position, a nursing bottle, means on said bottle connected to said tape for adjustably holdinp the bottle in direct contact with said tape tor normally supporting said bottle in inclined position with the nipple uppermost, said means permitting said bottle to be held in predetermined position at any point between the ends thereof.
