FILE-BASKET.

Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, Josnrrr P. HALL, citizen of the United States, residing at Sanford, in the county of Seminole and State of Florida, have invented new and useful Improvements in File-Baskets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a file basket, and more particularlyto a basket intended for filing telegrams.

One object is to provide a basket which shall be of convenient size and which shall constitute a unit in a series, so that a number of the baskets may be assembled for the purpose of distributing records and the like alphabetically.

A further object is to provide a basket of the type indicated in which shall be mounted a follower or other record supporting device comprising a wire frame resiliently mounted, for holding the records or telegrams in an approximately vertical position, for ready reference.

A still further object is to provide a device of the type indicated which shall include a wire frame and side and front walls, as well as a rear wall, of wire mesh, the front wall being cut away for convenience in consulting the contents of thebasket, and said front wall carrying a metallic card receiving device, for the reception of advertising matter, or for an inscription indicating the contents of the basket.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device, and Fig. 2 is a view in vertical transverse section.

In carrying out my invention, I provide aframework preferably of wire comprising a lower frame element 10 having connected therewith at the several corners uprights 12, said uprights being connected by a rear longitudinal element 13 at the upper portion of the framework, and two of said upright elements being connected at their upper portions by end members 14 and 15.

Loops or hooks 16 and 17 (formed of wire) are provided at the points indicated,

' and rubber guards or knobs 18 are located on the rear portion of the framework and on the lower side of the bottom section 10.

The tops ofthe uprights 12, at the front of the receptacle, are connected by wire 20, the end portions of which designated 21,

A follower 30 comprises a metallic frame having the proportions shown with reference to the proportions of the receptacle, the ends of the frame being in approximate contact with the ends of the receptacle.

This frame is connected by means of springs 31 and 32 with frame 10, the springs holding the follower in such position that the contents of the basket will be held in an approximately vertical position, or in such position that the telegrams or other articles or sheets may be easily consulted,

the sheet at the front being exposed to view.

It is the intention that this receptacle shall be made of convenient size for the purpose intended, and that each receptacle shall constitute a unit which may form one of a series, so that a number of these elements may be assembled for use in arranging alphabetically sheets or records of various kinds.

A card holding device for receiving advertising matter, or matter indicating the contents of the receptacle, and attached to the lower portion of the front, is designated 35, and comprises a flat metallic plate, havflanged portion 38.
