This invention relates to carriers, and has for an object to provide a cover construction which may be manipulated and which will not interfere with the action of the supporting straps.

A further object of the invention .is the provision of an improved cover and support lng arrangement connected with supporting straps in such a manner that the cover may be shifted easily without affecting the adjusting straps.

A still further object, more specifically, is the provision of a carrier and cover together with means for supporting the same, arranged to extend through the cover without interfering with the operation thereof and support the carrier from an interior point.

Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, 1 indicates a figure provided with a yoke 2 of any desired kind, as for instance similar to the yoke shown in my Patent No. 1,281,822. This yoke is designed to support straps 3 and 4 of any desired strucs ture, said straps being connected in any desired manner to links 5 at their ends. These straps are designed to support carriers G and '7. said carriers being of identical construction, so that the description of one will apply to both. When two carriers are used the same may be connected together at the front and back in any desired manner, as for instance by the use of tying strings or strap 8.

The carrier 7 is In'ovided with a body 9 of any desired construction, which is preferably provided. with a number of partitions 10. Connected with each of these partitions is a supporting strap 11 as shown in Fig. 1, .said strap being looped over the link 5 so that the carrier supported on the strap l through the partitions 10. ln `order that a supportinay be provided in this manner vand at the saine time a cover 12 utilized,

openings are provided in the cover through which the members 11 extend. Each opening in the cover 12 is surrounded by a reinforcing patch 13 having an upstanding section 11 acting in a. certain sense as a guide for the member 11 as the cover is raised and lowered. In some instances it is desired to connect the cover 12 with the member 11. in which instance stitching or other securingmembers 15 may extend through the guide 14 as indicated in Fig. S. T he cover 12 may be of canvas or any desired material and is preferably held in place by a line of stitching 16 at the hack of body 9 so that the overlapping front section 1'? may be raised at any time and access inav be had to the interior of the carrier without entirely removn ing the cover. lf desired instead of using a line of stitching 16 a number of removable fasteners may be used, asfor instance snap buttons 18 (Fig. 9). At the front and the ends are tying members 19 which may be tied togetl'ler as indicated in'Figs. 1 and 2 so as to hold the cover in a closed position. If desired a strap and buckle may be substituted for all of these members or part of them as indicated at 20.

In order to form the cover 12 so as to naturally fall over or conform to the shape of the body 9, overlapped sections 21 are provided at each end of the cover, same acting to draw in the side edges and produce a limited cup-shaped structure.

When the device is in use the carriers 6 and 7 may be arranged as shown in Fig. 1 and the cover also arranged as shown in this figure. lVhen it is desired. to Secure access to the contents of the carrier the buckles or tyingmembers may be undone and access readily secured by raising the cover and the insertion of the hand. lt will be noted that it only requires one hand to secure access to either carrier and that unless thus occupied the hands are free trom the carrier or its support While the load in the carrier is supported directly on theI shoulders and the strain distributed by the yoke 2. What l claim is:

l. A carrier of the character described comprising a Vbody provided with a plurality 'o'i partitions, a cover for said body having a pair of openings, reinforcing members connected to said cover around said openings, said reinforcing members having tubular upstanding extensions opposite the respective openings, a supliiorting` member extcndinl loosely through each of said tnbular members and said openings, means :tor connecting?r said supporting members with certain oi the partitions oi the body, and i'neans for connecting` said supporting members with a supporting` strap.
