T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, DWIGHT V. GODARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at 3525 Spruce street, Aurora, in the county of Kane and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in March-Folio Holders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.

This invention relates to a march folio holder adapted to receive a sheet of music to hold the same in such position that it may be seen by the musician while at the same time it will be protected from the weather and from dislodgment by gusts of wind or otherwise. It is a primary object of the invention to provide a folio holder of the character indicated constructed in such manner that it will be of very light weight; will be of pleasing and ornamental appearance; will be flexible and easily handled and will comprise a transparent portion which while permitting the musician to see the inclosed music, will not be of such nature as to be likely to be fractured.

It is a further object of the invention to provide a folio holder of the character inclicated having means for easily and quickly mounting the same upon the usual music lyre which is at present commonly employed to hold the music.

Further objects and advantages of the in vention will be set forth in the detailed description which now follows:

lhe main body of the folio holder is formed of soft pliable and light weight leather and comprises a back 5, a front 6 and a flap 7 that is adapted to fold over the back 5. The flap and back have cooperating members 8 and 9 which complementally constitute a snap fastener to hold the device in the closed position illustrated in Fig. 2. tire area of the front and is covered by a sheet of flexible transparent material 11, for example, celluloid. When in use a sheet of muslc indicated at 12 is placed within the holder in such manner that it will be visible through the transparent material 11 as illustrated 1n ,Fig. 1 and the flap 7 is folded down over the back 5 and secured in such folded over position by the snap fastening elements 8 and 9. The device as a whole may then be mounted upon an ordinary music lyre by means of a pocket formed within a sheet 13 l of a leather which corresponds in appearance to the material of which the back 5 is made. This sheet is stitched along three of its sides as indicated at 14 to the back 5. However it is not stitched along its lower edge and thus a pocket is formed that is open at the bottom and into which the music lyre may be slipped.

From the foregoing description it will be seen that simple and efiicient means are herein provided for accomplishing the ends sought.

However, it is to be understood the inventlon is not limited to the precise construction set forth but that it includes within its purview whatever changes fairly come within either the terms or the spirit of the appended claim.

Having described my claim is: v

A device of the character described formed of an integral flexible material and comprising a back, a front and a flap, said front having a sight opening formed therein covering substantially its entire area, a sheet of flexible transparent material for covering the sight opening, said transparent material lying directly adjacent the inner face of the back over its entire area so that a music sheet disposed between the transparent material and the back will be visible through said transparent material over the entire surface of the latter and a sheet of material secured to the outer face of the back along both of its sides and across its upper edge and having its lower edge left free to thereby form a pocket for the reception of a supporting element.
