To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, DANIEL S. GRIFFIN, a citizen of the United States, and resident of Hudson Falls, in the county of \Va'shington.

and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Golf -Head, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

This invention relates to improvements in golf heads, an object of the invention being to provide a head for golf clubs whichwill be light in weight, and which will. be less resistant to the air than the golf heads now in use, so that it may be swung with a great deal of speed.

\Vhile my invention may be applied to various kinds of golf clubs,- it is especially adapted for use with clubs which are used in driving the ball. i

It is a well known fact that if a golf club, base ball hat, or similar stick used for striking at a ball, is provided with a bright spot or a spot of noticeably different color from the rest of the'club or bat, the user unconsciously endeavors to strike th'e'ball with the s ot.

It is therefore a further object of my invention to provide a bright metal insert or plug in the golf head at the point where the head should roperly come in contact with the ball, to ve the longest drive and most accurate delivery of the ball. l

.VVith these and other objects in view the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and'combinations and an rangements of parts, as willbe more fully hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claim. y i

Havingthus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters' Patent is as follows A golf head including a centrally disposed ball engaging portion and having a staggered. arrangement of transverse perforations around said portion, said head having a centrally disposed transverse bore in the ball engaging portion and having a circular recess in it's striking face communicating with a said bore, the walls of said recess forming'a shoulder around the bore, a bright metal of the type ord'i driving.
