siding at Chicopee Falls, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts, has invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fabric-forking Mechanism, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements n a flipper mechanism for bias cutters of the type known as the Bolton and its leading object is to provide a rotary flipper bar arranged to cooperate with a grab bar and means for imparting intermittent rotative movement to the flipper bar controlled by said grab bar.
lVith the above and other ob ects in view this invention relates to certain new and useful constructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, clearly described in the following specification, and fully illus trated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

against the tension of coil springs 19. The coil springs 19 engage socket 20 provided in. said flipper. bar and can be removed or replaced by means of caps 21 threaded on the sockets 20. The flipperstrips 18 can be, removed by means ofretaining plates 22 secured in place by screws 23. The springs 19 provide means, for maintaining the members 18 under tension and permit of a yielding movementof said members 18.
' On the shaft 14 a ratchet wheel 25 is mounted which is provided with four teeth 26 radially spaced an equal distance from each other. On the shaft 14 anarm 27 is mountedand this arm carries a pawl 28 pivoted thereto to engage the teeth 26 in success on. An operating rod or link 29 isalso' pivotally connected with the arm 27 i 2'7'so that a pawl 35 will be maintained in the same relation to the ratchet 25 that the pawl 28 is. An operating link 36 is pivoted at one end to the lever 80 and at the other end to the bracket 37'which is secured to the member 38 arranged to slide onv the base 39.
ith each movement of the member 38 the lever or arm 30 will be swung toward the shaft 40 and the ratchet wheel 25 advanced one-half of a turn and this action will swing the members 18 carried bythe flipper bar in an are against the fabric.
Having described my invention I claim 1. The combination with a grab bar,' a spring pressed element being supported to rotate close to one edge of the grab bar with a fabric working machine, of flipper mechanism'consisting of a rotative bar and a spring pressed element carried by said bar. 2. The combination with a grab bar, a
spring pressed element being supported to rotate close to one edge of the grab bar with a fabric working machine, of flipper mechnism consisting of a rotative bar and independent spring pressed members carried by the bar.
A combination with a grab bar of a fabric working machine, of flipper mechanism consisting of a rotative bar, yielding members on said bar, and means for imparting a step-by-step rotative movement to the bar, the bar being supported to rotate close to one edge of the grab bar.
1-. A flipper mechanism consisting of a rotativebar, means slidably mounted on said bar, springs engaging said means, said means projecting from said bar on opposite sides thereof, and means for imparting a step-bystep rotative movement to the bar.
5. A flipper mechanism consisting of a rotative bar, spring pressed means carried there 3y, a ratchet, and pawl mechanism engaging the ratchet for imparting a stepbystep rotative movement to the bar.
6. A flipper mechanism consisting of a rotative bar, spring pressed elements carried by said bar and projecting on the 0pposite sides thereof, a pawl mechanism,
means for imparting movement to the pawl mechanisn'i, and a ratchet associated with the bar and acted on by the pawl mechanlsm, whereby said bar willbe glven a stepby-step rotative movement when said pawl m echanism is actuated.
