Application filed August 7, 1922. Serial No. 580,288.
hibiting two or more pictures, advertisements, menu cards orthe like in a convenient and practical manner.
. One of the objects of the invention is to provide a novel revolving frame adapted to be supported to permit of a full display of both sides thereof by simply rotating the frame in its stand to bring first one side then the other into View.
A further object of the invention is to provide novel and practical means for closing the opening in the frame through which the pictures or other articles are inserted and removed, the same means also being con structed to provide one of the pivots for supporting the frame in its rotational movement.
With the above and other objects in view which will more readily appear as the nature of the invention is better understood, the same consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, illustrated and claimed.
A preferred and practical embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the improved device.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 22 of Fig. 1.
Figure 3 is a detail elevation of a modification of the invention.
Figure 4 is a detail vertical sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 3.
Similar reference characters designate corresponding parts throughout the several figures of the drawings.
In carrying the invention into effect it is proposed to provide a suitable stand designated generally as S and comprising a base 1 and an upright portion 2 which preferably terminates in a horizontal arm 3. The said base 1 and the horizontal arm 3 are respectively provided with a pivot socket 4 and a pivot opening 5, the former being adapted to receive the pivot pin 6 carried by the lower bar 7 of the frame F as clearly shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings, and the latter receiving the upper pivot for the frame as will presently appear.
The said frame F may be constructed of any suitable and available material and the bottom bar 7 and sidemem'bers 8 are rabbeted or grooved, asindicated at 9 to accommodate suitable transparent elements 10.
such as glass, transparent celluloid or the like, and also the pictures, advertisements, menu cards or the like 11 at both sides thereof.
This keeper bar is preferably provided with,
a tenon portion 15 for'fitting into the slot 13 and the side edges 16 thereof overlie the top edges of the frame bar 12 to provide a neat and attractive finish.
As shown in Figures 1 and 2 the said keeper bar 14 carries an upright pivot pin 17 which is adapted to fit into the opening 5 in the arm 3. l
Assuming that it is desired to place the articles to be exhibited in the frame F it will be understoodthat the same can be removed from the stand S by lifting the keeper bar 14 until the tenon portion 15 thereof clears the socket 13. The frame F 'may then be removed from the stand by lifting the pin 6 out of the socket 4 and the.
pictures or other articles then slid in position. The frame may then be replaced in the stand by first inserting the pin 6 back in the socket 4 and maintaining the keeper bar 14 elevated with the pivot 17 raised in the A modification of the invention which frame F is fitted to the extended end of the pin 17 which projects above the arm 3 of the stand it will be apparent that the said auxiliary frame may rotate with the main frame F. Obviously the additional display space provided by permitting the use of both sides ofthe auxiliary frame F permits of increased advertising or announcement facilities and contributes materially to the scope of the invention.
lVithout further description it is thought that the many features and advantages thereof will be readily apparent to those skilled in the art and it will. of course be understood that changes in the form, proportion and minor details of construction may be resorted to Without departing from the spirit of the invention or scope of the appended claims.
I claim 1. A display device of the class described consisting of a stand including a base hav ing a socket and a horizontal arm'spaced therefrom having an opening alined with said socket, a hollow frame open at one end and having a pivot pin at the other end for engaging with the socket in the base, and a keeper bar adapted to fit in the open end of said frame and also carrying a pivot pin adapted to engage in the opening in the arm.
2. A display device of the class described consisting of a stand including a base having a socket and a horizontal arm spaced therefrom having an opening alined with said socket, a hollow frame open at one end and having a pivot pin at the other end for engaging With the socket in thecba se, and a keeper bar having a tenon portion for en tering the open end of said frame, and also having an upright pivot pin adapted to enter said opening in the arm.
3. A display device of the class described consisting of a stand including a base having a socket and a horizontal arm spaced therefrom having an opening alined With said socket, a hollow'frarne open atone end and having a pivot pin at the other end for engaging With-the socket in the base, and a CHARLES M.
