J. K. PAMEYER PALETTE Filed Sent. 12. 1921 mm: K. PAMEYER, on TAC MA, wasniner'onf Application filed September 12,1921. Serial No. 500,206.
To all whom it may concern: a Be it known that I, JoHN K. PAMnYnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tacoma, in the county of Pierce and State of IVashington, have invented a new and useful Palette, of which the following is specification.
By way of explanation, it may be stated that sign writers and others using a palette,
are compelled to stoop or move frequently,
in order to dip the paint brush into the paint pot or cup. stood, one object of the invention is to provide a palette on which a paint cup may be mounted detachably, and removably, thereby rendering it unnecessary for the person using the palette to stoop, stretch, or as sume any other inconvenient position in order to reach a paint cup.
Another object of the invention is to provide novel means whereby the palette and the mahlstick may be carried conveniently in the hand, the mahlstick supporting the palette.
It is within the province of the disclosure to improve generally and to enhance the utility of devices of that type to which the invention appertains.
I Vith the above and other objects in view, which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and, claimed, it being understood that, within the scope of wiat is claimed, changes in the precise embodiment of the invention shown can be made without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the accompanying drawings Figure 1 shows in perspective, a device constructed in accordance with the invention; Figure 2 is a bottom plan of the palette; Figure 3 is a cross section on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
In carrying out the invention there is provided a palette 1 which may be of any desired size or shape, depending upon the nature of the work which is to be done;
The palette 1 may be fashioned from any desired material. If it is made from aluminum, it may be cleaned readily. A strip, 2
extends transversely of the palette 1 andv is located on the under surface thereof, the ends 5 of the strip engaging the edges of the palette 1 for additional security and strength. Securing elements 3 attach the The foregoing' bemg underthird finger 16.
strip 2, adjacent to its ends, to the palette 1.
The stri 2 is bent to form sockets 6 and 7, locate relatively near to the longitudinal in this connection, it is to be understood that as many cups as desired, may be provided. The cup 10 rests on the palette 1 adjacent to one edge thereof, and-is provided with a resilient clip 11, extended beneath the palette and gripping the palette, the construction being such that, although the cup 10 is held on the palette, the cup may be adjusted to any desired position, around the edge of the palette.
In practical operation, the thumb 12 of the 'handof the operator is inserted in the socket 6, the index finger 14: being inserted in the socket 7. The mahlstick 15 is extended between the index finger l land the The mahlstick v15 is received in the seat 9, and thus, the palette is supported not only by the hand of the operator,-butupon the mahlstick, as well. It .is obvious that the construction of the device is such that the person using the palette will always have at hand, on the palette, a supply of paint or pigment, the operator having no occasion to reach for a remote paint receptacle. 3
What is claimed is i 1. In a device of the class described,a
palette provided in one edge with a seat and one socket being located at an angle to'the other socket.
3. In a device of the class described, a palette, a strip extended transversely of the palette and overlapped at its ends on:-
the edges of the palette, securing .means i uniting the strip with the palette adjacent to the ends of the strip, and a securing means uniting the strip with the palette intermediate the ends of thestrip, the strip being carried downwardly adjacent to its ends to 7 form finger-receiving sockets.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as
