` FFIGEo IMPROVEMENT IN SCISSORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 15L179, dated May 19, 1874; application lerl February 21, 1874.
To all whom it may concern:
'Be it known that I, SAMUEL I-I. WALDIE, of Belmont, in the county of Gonzales and State of Texas, have invented a new and valuable Improvement in Scissors; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the saine, reference being had to the annexed drawings, making a part of this speciiication, and to the letters and iigures of reference marked thereon.
Figure 1 ofthe drawing` is a representation of my scissors. Fig. 2 is a view ofthe same, as used.
rThis invention has relation to scissors for the use of dealers in dry goods 5 and it consists in providing an ordinary pair of scissors with an extension at or near the end of one of the blades, having an entering point and an eye to carry athread, and designed to serve a convenient purpose inrtagging and retagging goods, as hereinafter more fully set forth.
In the accompanying drawings, the letter A indicates apair of scissors having the usual blunt points, so that they can be carried in the pocket without danger to clothes or wearer. Brepresents the tagging extension, consisting of a reversely-bent hook having an entering-point, a, and an eye, b, which is adapted to carry a thread, c, or cord.
With these scissors but a moment is rcquired, after cutting oft a certain number of yards from a piece of goods, to retag the same. And the addition of the tagging extension does not render the instrument dangerous when carried in the pocket.
W'hat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent7 is A pair of scissors having at the end of one ofthe blades a tagging extension, I3, pointed, and having an eye, b, for carrying the tag, thread, or cord, substantially as specified.
