PATENT oFFieE.
JEROME HIRSCHMAN, 0F VENICE, CALIFORNIA.
AMUSEMENT DEVICE.
Application filed December 20, 1922. Serial No. 607,956.
To aZZ whom it may concern.
Be it known that I, JEROME HIRSGHMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Venice, in the county of Los Angcles, State of California, have invented new and useful improvements in Amusement Devices, of
which the following is a specification.
My inventlon relates to an amusement de-.
7 servers.
With the foregoing and other objects in view, my invention consists in certain novel features of construct on and arrangement of parts that will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed and illustrated in the nates disc-like members that are formed of suitable sheet material, such as card board, wood veneer, celluloid or the like, said discs being about the same size as the round'or oval frames of spectacles and being connected, by an arched member 11,,that serves asa nose piece when the device is worn.
- Slotted ears 12 project outwardly from the outer sides of the discs 10 and pivotally connected to said ears are bows 13. if
Formed in each disc, is a horizontally disposed slot 14, and positioned in each slot so as to roll freely, lengthwise therethrough is a dis c 15 of suitable thin sheet material such as wood, celluloid or metal.
The front surface of each of these discs may be printed or colored to represent the pupil of the eye and formed in the center of each disc is a small aperture 16 that forms a slight opening, and also simulates or represents the iris of the eye.
Secured on the front and rear surfaces of the discs 10 and nose piece 11 are sections 17 of thin sheet material, such as paper, and formed therein are horizontally disposed elongated openings 18 that are shaped so as to represent the'openings between the eye lids.
The front surface of the front section 17 may be printed with the representation of a frame for spectacles or eyeglasses, and with eyelashes and which latter are disposed about the edges of the openings 18.
When my improved amusement device is positioned on the face above the nose and in front of the eyes, and the head is moved laterally in either direction, the discs 15 will,
by gravity roll in the direction that the head is moved, thereby producing an amusing effect, that will interest and entertain the observers.
By proper movement of the Wearers head, the discs may be caused to roll to the outer or inner ends of the respective openings 14, thereby producing the amusing effect ofv cross or cook eyes.
An amusement device of my improved construction is relatively simple, may be easily and cheaply produced and when used, affords much amusement.
Obviously the device .is susceptible of minor changes in size, form and construction, withoutdeparting from the spirit of the invention, the scope of which is set forth in the appended clai I claim as my invention:
In an amusement device, a frame comprising a pair, of disk-like members formed of relatively thick material, an arched member connecting said disks. each disk provided .with a horizontally disposed substantially rectangular opening, relatively thin sections of sheet material applied to the front and rear faces of said disks and nose p ece, said sections of thin sheet material being provided with coinciding openings arranged in pairs, one pair being arranged within the boundaries of each rectangular opening in each disk, the openings in said thin sheet material being substantially smaller than the openings in the disks, a pupil representing 5 disk arranged for rolling movement Within the opening in each disk and between the sections of thin sheet material that are provided with the coinciding smaller openings, and each rolling disk being provided with a rela tively small centrally arranged opening. 10
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification.
JEROME HIRscHM-AN.
