Be it known that I, HUGH MoCAc'rnciN, a citizen of the Dominion of Canada, and resident of Ottawa, in the county of Carleton and Province of Ontario, Dominion of Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsv in Ticket Holders, of which the following is a specification.

This invention has relation to certain new and useful improvements in a ticket holder, and has for its primary object the provision of a holder in which a number of strips of tickets may 'be carried and the strips ejected one at a time without disturbing the remaining strips. r

The invention has for another object the provision of' a ticket holder of thecharaeter stated in which is employed a resilient ticket support which resiliently retains the tickets in proper position with the uppermost tickets supports thereon projected toward the exit slotwhich permits only onestrip at a time to be ejected from the holder, 7

The invention has for a further object the provision of a ticket holder of the character statedwhich is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture and may be readily supported on a belt or the like with the resilient ticket supporters removably held in place in the ticket compartments for which they are provided. H p

A still further object of the invention resides in the provision ofa ticket holder of the character stated which is composed of the minimum number of parts of simple construction and arrangement and in which the resilient ticket support is constructed in different sizes to'accommodate the dilterent strips of tickets as employed by t'he' street car companies or the like, each resilientticket support being formed so as to press the strips of tickets against one wall of the pocket in which they are positioned and force all of the strips in one direction with the ends overlapping in one direction toward the exit opening, thereby automatically feeding the strips in succession to the outletopening or slot through which they may be ejected one at a time.

Removably positioned in each compartment or pocket 1s a resilient support 19 which is in the form of a spring material strip bent transversely upon itself intermediate its ends to provide the lower flat finger 20 and the inclined upper finger 21, having its front end 22 curved upwardly slightly, as shown in Figs. 4- and 5. The central portion of the support 19 is bent upon itself to form a heel 23 which fits snugly in the lower end of the compartment or pocket and has an inclined forward wall 24 against which one end of the strips of tickets engage when resting on'the inclined upper fingers 21 of the support 19. The support 19 is readily inserted or removed from the lower end of the con1 partment or pocket for which it is provided and when in position presses the strips of tickets toward the outer slotted wall of the compartment or pocket with the ends of the tickets overlapping, so as to present the uppermost or outermost strip to the discharge slot 12. A locking ridge 25 is provided transversely of the lower fiat finger 20 of the support 19 by pressing upwardly a portion of the same for engagement with the locking rib 26 provided on the corresponding wall of the compartment or pocket and extended transversely thereof. This may be readily understood from Figs. 4 and 5. The strips of tickets may be seen in Figs. 1 to 4 inclusive and are designated by the numeral 27. It is also to be understood that the strips 27 are forced outwardly by inserting a finger or thumb in the longitudinal slot 18 of the pocket, pressing on the strips and moving the same longitudinally in the pocket toward the discharge opening 12. It is to be further noted that the ridge 25 grips the rib 26 sufiiciently to retain the support 19 in proper position within the compartment or pocket, but will permit releasing thereof when it is desired to force the support 19 out of the compartment or pocket for placing thereon a new supply of strips or substituting a different holder with other strips of ticket-s.

In Fig. 6 a modified form of the invention is disclosed, showing a ticket holder of one compartment or pocket only for single tickets. This modified form includes a body 28 formed of a single section of material with the ends of the body open. An end, plate 29 is extended across one end of the body 28 to close the same and leave only a sufficient open space to provide a discharge slot 30 for the tickets 31. An elongated longitudinal slot 32 is provided in the upper face of the body 28 so that the tickets 31 may be readily forced out of the holder by way of the discharge slot 31 in the same manner as in the preferred form of the invention. A ticket support 33 is removably inserted from the other end of the body 28 and corresponds to the form of ticketsupport 19 disclosed in the preferred form of the invention and, therefore, needs no further detail description.

It is believed the complete construction and operation of the invention may now be apparent from the foregoing paragraphs, taken in connection with the accompanying drawings without further detail description. It may be briefly stated, however, that the preferred form is designed particularly for conductors of street cars, where several different types of tickets are employed. The modified form is designed as a vest pocket ticket holder for individual use and may be readily carried in a pocket, handbag or the like. The strips of tickets may be readily inserted or removed from the holder in the two different forms and either form of holder may be readily refilled as required.

While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed, it is to be understood that minor changes in the details of construction, combination and arrangement of cooperating elements may be resorted to within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

VVhat I claim as new is:

1. A ticket holder including a body having an open end and a discharge slot at its other end; a resilient ticket support held in said body and including'an inclined finger portion serving to support tickets in over lapped relation with the uppermost ticket presented to the discharge slot; said sup port includin a heel carrying an inclined face for forcing the tickets to overlapping position; means for retaining said support in normal position within said body; said body having a slot formed in one face for exposing the uppermost ticket and permitting discharging of the sznne through said discharge slot by pressure on the ticket and movement of the same longitudinally in said body; and means carried by said body for sup iorting the same on a belt.

2. A ticket holder including a one piece. body with a portion of the material thereof turned to form av longitudinal partition within the body, dividing the same into compartments; an end plate for closing one end of the body and leaving a discharge slot at the end of each compartment; said body having slots in one wall of the con'ipartment a spring ticket support for each coinpart ment; each spring ticket, support being bent upon itself intermediate its ends to form a flat finger and an inclined finger having its: free end curved; the central portion of the spring ticket support being bent to form a heel with an inclined face for engagement with one end of the ticket resting on the irclined finger, whereby the heel and the inclined finger cooperate to resiliently retain the tickets in overlapped position and with the uppermost ticket engaged With the slotted Wall of the compartment, thus permitting the uppermost ticket to be readily dis charged through the slot by means of a finger inserted in said slotted Wall and engaged with 1 the uppermost ticket; means carried by another Wall of the compartment and by the fiat finger of the resilient ticket support to normally retain said resilient ticket support in position Within said conipartment; and means carried by the ticket holder for mounting the same on the supporting member. y
