UNITED STATES GEORGE E. BUZZA, 0F MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA.
GAME DEVICE.
Application filed August 20, 1923.
To all whom it may GOVLCWt-l Be it known that I, GEORGE E. BUZZA, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of rlennepin and State of lilinnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game- Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to game devices, and an object is to provide blocks, preferably two in number, which have in'lprinted on the faces thereof words which are so devised that when the blocks are thrown, the words carried by the faces which come uppermost on the dilierent bloclr wl1en read in proper sequence, may combine to spell expressions indicative of various greetpreferably accomplish the objects rugs. of my invention by placing suitably chosen nouns on the faces of one block and suitably chosen adjectives on the faces of another block.
The full objects and advantages of my invention will appear in connection with the detailed description, and the novel features of my inventive idea will be particuarly pointeo out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings which illustrate some of the forms in which my invention may be embodied, Fig. 1 is a perspective view of one of the blocks showing three faces thereof. F 2 is a perspective view of the same block and showing the other three faces thereof. Fig. is a perspective view of another. block showing three faces thereof. l ig. 4- is a perspective view of the same block shown in Fig. 3 and showing the other three faces thereof. Figs. and 6 are face views of two different blocks showing a slight modification. Figs. 7 and 8 are face views of two different blocks showing a further slight modification.
Referring first to the form shown in Figs. 1 to l, it will be understood that Figs. 1 and 2 together show the six faces of a cubical block, and Figs. 3 and 4 together show the six faces of another cubical block. The faces of the block shown in Figs. 1 and 2 which are designated 1, 2, 3, l, 5 and 6 carry the names of nouns, those shown being respectively New Year Yuletide, Michaelmas, Holiday, Christmas, and Christmastide. The faces of the blocks shown in Fi gs. 3 and 4 which are designated 1, 2, 3, l, 5, and 6, carry the names of Serial No. 658,424.
adjectives, those shown being respective- Happy Joyous, Happiest, Cheery, Merry, and A Glad. The faces of the two blocks shown in Figs. 1 to 4c also carry dots corresponding to the dots on ordinary dice. When the two blocks are thrown, the two faces which come uppermost will show a noun and an adjective, and in case corresponding faces are uppermost, certain greetings will appear such as Happy New Year Joyous Yuletide, Happiest Michaelmas, Cheery Holiday Merry Christmas, and A Glad Christinastide. In. the forms shown in Figs. 5 and 6, hearts instead of dots are placed on the various faces of the two blocks, there. being two hearts shown on each of the respective faces. The words may be the same as those previously mentioned. Therefore, it is not necessary to show all the faces, one for each block only being shown. In the form shown in Fi 7 and 8, words only are placed on the two blocks, one face. only of each block being shown.
The advantages and manner of using my invention will be apparent from the fore going description. hen the blocks are thrown, a noun will always appear uppermost on one of the blocks and an adjective on another. According to the manner in which the blocks come to rest, various coni binations of words expressive of greetings will appear. It is further obvious that the blocks may be used in connection with cards for playing games of chance and that such cards may have printed thereon corresponding words.
I claim:
1. A game device comprising a plurality of blocks, the faces of one block arrying nouns which constitute portions of greetings and the faces of another block carrying adjectives which constitute the remaining portions of the greetings.
2. A game device comprising two cubical blocks, the six faces of one block carrying six. different nouns which constitute portions of greetings, and the six faces of the other block carrying six different adjectives which constitute the remaining portions of the greetings.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature.
GEORGE E. BUZZA.
