JAMESJE. EUWER; F .LGS ANGELES, CALEFOEEHH.
rnoroeaarnre anser/r.
Application filed March l, 19%. Serial No. Mlldll.
To all whom t 'may concern.'
Be it known that l, JAMES E. EUwnR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Los Angeles, in the county of Los Angeles and o State of California, have invented new and useful Improvements in Photographic Albums, lofy which the following is a specilication. Y 1 y My invention relates generally to albums or foldersadapted to contain pictures, photographs, or samples of paper, cloth, or the like, and a purpose of my invention is= the provision of a pocket size album formed of a single sheet ofy material which is folded in such manner as to eliminate the employment of any adhesive material 0r fasteners in securing the sheet in album formation.
llt is also a purpose of my invention.to provide an album which is provided with a multiplicity of pockets or picture-receiving frames that are adapted to be folded'one upon another so that the album'will occupy a minimum amount of space within the pocket. The invention further provides title strips adapted to be secured in designating position vwith vrespect to the photographs and pictures contained within the album.
Although l will describe only one form-of album embodying my invention and point out the novel features thereof in claims, it is to be understood that various changes and modifications ma be made herein without departing from tie spirit and scope of such claims.
ln the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a View showingin folded poy sition one form of album embodying myfinvention. f p to Fig. 2 is a view showing the album in extended position.
Fig. 3 is a fragmentary view showing one end of the sheet from which the albumv is formed.
A im F'g. l is a View similar to Fig. 3 with the body portion 15, frame extensions 16 and 17, a cover Hap 18, and picture-supporting flaps 19. The body portion 15 is folded transversely at intervals along scored lines as indicated at 20 and longitudinallyA as in- 60 dicated at 21, the folds being continued so that they are coextensive in length with the extensions 16 and 17. The rst and last scored portions 20 at their opposite ends are extended to form a fold for a retaining tab 22, but the primary purpose of the scorings is'to allow folding of the body 15 at intervals in forming the picture-receiving pockets designated at P in Fig. 2.
and securely embrace the lower edges'of the M0 i pictures P' to prevent downward movement of theh latter within the pockets.
As shown in Fig.- the several pockets are adapted to be folded one upon tlieother and transversely of the album along the frame extensions 16 so that they occupy the positions shown in Fig. 1 with the cover Hap 1S' spanning the free edges of the leaves. The free end of the Hap can be inserted behind the last two pictures of another Similltl larly constructed album vvhen itl is desired tegral With each leaf, the supporting flaps to associate one album With another in an end-:to-end manner.
To provide means for designating the titles of thevpictures contained Within.the pockets P, title strips 2,4 are sustained upon the flaps 19 by forming slots in the latter at points indicated at 25 which receive the opposite ends of the strip and thereby retain the latterso as to expose a major portion of the same upon the outer sides o-f the flap. Upon each of these title strips is adapted to be Written the title of the yparticular picture contained Within the respective pocket.
From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying dravings, it Will he clear that I have provided an album consisting of a plurality of foldable leaves2 with eac-h leaf containing a picture-receiving pocket, and all Without the employment of adhesive material or fastening members thus permitting the manufacture of such an'article at extremely low cost.
What l claim is:
l. An album comprising a single sheet of foldable material formed With frame extensions and supporting flaps, said sheet being bent to provide a plurality of foldable leaves, with thevextensions and flaps cooperating With the leaves to provide picture-receiving pockets, and a cover flap formed at one end of the sheet and adapted to engage the leaves for securing the latter in folded position.
2. An album comprising a single sheet of foldable material cut and formed to provide a plurality of connected leaves, a frame eX-.
3. An album comprising a sin le sheet of lfoldable material cut and forme to provide a plurality of hingedly connected leaves, a frame extensionand a. supporting flap inbeing associated with the frame extensions to retain the extensions in frame formation.
4. An album comprising a single sheet of foldable material folded transversely at in tervals to provide leaves, frame extensions and supporting flaps for each of the leaves folded to overlie the leaves to provide picture-receiving pockets, certain of said frame extensionsbeing folded to provide a picturereceiving channel, retaining tabs formed on certain ofthe supporting flaps, supporting tabs formed on the supporting flaps, said flaps being adapted to removably' sustain title strips, and a`cover flap formed on one end of the sheet.
5. An album comprising a single sheet of foldable material cut and fr med to provide ,a'plurality of hingedly connected leaves, a frame extension and a supporting-flap integral With each leaf, the supporting flaps being associated with the frame extensions to retain the extensions in frameformation,
and a supporting tab on each fiap adapted to support a picture placed against the leaf, said flaps being provided With slots for the reception of title strips.
(i. An album comprising a single sheet of material folded to provide a plurality of leaves arranged edge to edge, picture-retaining means on each of the leaves along their sides, and a cover iap adapted to be inserted behind the end piet-lues of a similar album for associating the album with another in au end-toend manner.
'7. An album comprising a single sheet of material folded to provide a plurality of leaves having picture-receiving pockets, and means on each leaf for supporting a title strip thereon.
ln' testimony whereof l have signed my name to this specification.
JAMES E. EUVVER.
