'llhis invention relates to massage vibrators of the electrically operated type. and more y particularly to the applicator or rubber massage Vappliance which is attached to the vibratable stem of the massage vibrator.
One of the objects of this invention isr to provide an applicator adapted for attachment. tothe vibratable stem of the massage device, which applicator is--adapted to hold a quantity of liquid and to permitv its distributionto the part to be massaged during the massaging treatment,
Another objectfof this invention resides in providing a simple applicator attachment for the stem ofthe electric vibrator, which attachment consists of the usual rubber-faced massaging appliance, but which is constructed and arranged in separable parts, which, when put together, form a closed reservoir adapted to conta-in sulicient massaging liquid for a treatment, said rubber surface being further suitably perforated to permit the How of massage liquid therethrough.
These and other objects of the invention will be apparent from a perusal of the following specifcation when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, where- 1n-- Figure 1 is a side view,
partly in section showing the novel type of applicator as atp tached to the vibratable stem of the electric massage vibrator, and
Fig. 2, is a section taken on the line 2-2 of ig. 1.
Referring now to thel drawings in detail,
the usual electric massage vibrator 1 is provided with a. stem 2 which is given the usual vibrato movement. This stem 2 is formed so that 1t will detachably receive an applicator havinga yielding portion adapted to contact with the part` to be massaged 'as is well known inthe art.. The novelty in the present invention resides in suitably constructing theapplicator so that it forms a liquid container adapted to hold a suflicient quantity of massaging liquid, which liquid is permitted to ow to the, yielding surface during the massaging treatment.
In the specific embodiment illustrated, the applicator comprises a sheet metal cup 3 l formed with the screw threads 4 and provided vvith an internal lip 5 at the open mouth of the cup.` The other end of the cup is provided with a screw-threaded stem 6 adapted for threaded connection with the threaded bore T of the stem Q. A suitable gasket- S surrounds'the stem 6 to malte the connect-ion tight. This cup is ot' suiiicient size to hold a ysuitable quantity of liquid, such as oils. tonics. hair restorers and masof the cup 3, and thereby make a sealed joint. rlhe rubber facing l1 may be of any desired design. In the present instance, it is shown with a plurality of tits or prongs 13 adapted to contact with the part-to be massaged. vAny number of these tlts or prongs are provided, and certain of them are hollow or perforated to provlde passages 14. leading into the `interior of the shell so thatthe liquid therein may flow outwardly through these tits or prongs and be appliedto the part to be massaged durlng the treatment. Manifestly, other designs of ap 1 1- cators are within the contemplation of t 1s invention. For instance, instead of screw threading the two detachable portlons of the applicator, a friction fit may be used, and further, instead ofmaking the container of two detachable portions, the same e'ect may be attained by forming an lntegral shelllike body and providing the .same with a filling aperture for the massaglng liquid.
It will be noted that 'the applicator as shown in this invention is very simple, 1s easy to fill, is ve' economical, and makes an extremely han y device for massaging i threads, a coupling adapted to work on the vibratable stem of an electric massage vibrator, and a projecting flange at its rim; a metal shell having circumferential threads adapted to engage the threads of said cuplike structure, and provided with a/projecting flange in spaced parallel vrelationship to said first projecting liange on said structure; and a rubber facing molded to said flange on said shell and having prongs onl its exterior with passages therethrough to convey liquid fro1nsaid cup; said flanges engaging said facing therebetween to form a liquid-tight seal under the action of said screw threads. f
2. An applicator comprising an inner and an outer member threaded together, one of saidmembers constituting a, reservoir and having a connection for adjustment tothe vibratable stem of an electrictmassage v1- brator, said members having parallel flanges,
.and a rubber facing having a flange adapted to be engaged between the flanges of said members to 'form a sealed joint 'therebe-x tween, said facing having apertures therein for the passage of liquid from said reservoir to the exterior of said facing.
3. An applicator for an electric massage vibrator comprising a cupelike structure provided with a coupling member for connection with the vibratable stem of an electric massagek vibrator, said cup-like structure having circumferential threadsand an inturned lip, a closure comprising a shell having circumferential threads .and an inturned flange, and a rubber facing moulded tosaid ange, said rubber facing having a rearwardly extending rubber annulus and.
an oppositely extending plurality of hollow prongs, said annu'lus being constructed and arranged to be and lip when said cup-like structure and closure are screwed one'upon the other. In testimony whereof, I aix my signature.
