FABRIC WITH PATTERNS PRINTED THEREON.
Application filed November ornamentation, the ornamentation in permaient co s o nl,Y o.: he ds v t'- 5 ines to be in e-i tcolors Witlntheremaint er in fuoitive colors so that various sized dresses may be made from the outlines on the cloth, according to the desires of the dressmaker. These and other objects-are accomplished by my invention, one embodinrent of Which is hereinafter more particularly set forth.
For a more detailed description of my invention, reference is to be had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part hereof, in which the figure shows an embodiment of my invention.
l is a sheet of fabric of any character which has a repeated design thereon, one of which is shown in the figure. This design 2, inthe embodiment shoyvn, is in the-'form of a dress, thel front and back being the same so that by using a piece of cloth a little more than double the length shown, mate` rial isv had for both the front and back, On vthis dress pattern 2 is stamped any suitable ornamentation 3 in a permanent color` or colors which -may be made as complicated or as simple as desired.
There are also dress pattern lines of dif- `ferent characters, which may, be readily dis-v tinguished and these are made of fugitive` colors which may be easily Washed out, so that any of several sizes may bc cut from the pattern. In the embodiment shown there are several such lines `which are 'designated by the characters 36, 38 and 40, these characters designate arbitrary numbers Which indicate sizes. Assuming that the largest sized dress that mayzbe made from the pattern is desired, the dressmaker cuts along the line 40. If the dressmaker Wishes to make the next largest size, the cutting should be along the lines 38 and if the smallest size is desired there should be cutting along the line 36. After the garment is cut, the
23, 1925. serial No. 71,028.A
parts are sevved together in the conventional manner and thereafter the garment is Washed and the fugitive colors removed and then it may be ironed and is ready for use.
As lstated above, a portion of the series of outlines 36, 38 and 40, may be in fugitive colors and the remainder in permanent colors. For instance, the line i0 indicating the largest size may be in a permanent color, since it Will never be included in the body of the dress after it is cut. The smaller size lines, however, (36 and 38) should al-4 ways be in fugitive colors.
l/Vhile I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention, it is obvious4 that itis not restricted thereto, but that it is broad enough to cover all structures that come Within the scope of the annexed claims.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim is:
1. A printed fabric suitable for garments the fabric having groups of ornamentsj` printed thereon, in permanent colors, and a series of cutting outlines for different sizes around each group in fugitive colors, each series of outlines indicating lines of cutting for a substantially complete garment front or back the several series being disposed side by side and extending transversely of the fabric.
2. A printed fabric suitable for garments f JACQUES R. FREEDMAN.
