Application filed March 27, 1926.
In usingl the ordinary type of shaving brush considerable difficulty is encountered in trying to wash all of the lather and soap off of the brush fibres or hairs to keep the brush in a sanitary condition. The process of washing the brush by placingvthe brush portion under a faucet to rinseout the soap has not proven very satisfactory, and at the best is a mussy operation.
This invention relates to an improved type of a shaving brush wherein a hollow handle is rovided with a flexible collar adapted to lie removably and easily engaged on the mouth of a faucet to permit water to run through the handle and` through apertures in the brush head to facilitate a thorough washing of the soap and lather from between the brush fibres or hairs.
It is also an object of this invention to provide a shaving brush having a hollow handle alapted to be removably engaged ou a faucet to permit water to be run through the brush to wash the brush libres or hairs.
It is an important obj ect of this invention to provide an improved vsimplified type of shaving brush the handle of which is hollow and is adapted to have one end thereof removably engaged on the mouth of a faucet to admit water into the handle, while the otherend of said handle is provided with a passaged brush head through which the water is adapted to be forced under pressure between the brush fibres to thoroughly wash and rinse the same after a shaving operation.
Other and further important objects of this invention will be apparent from the disclosures in the specification and accompanying drawings.
This invention (in a preferred form) `is illustrated in the drawings and hereinafter more fully described.
On the drawings:
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a shaving brush embodying the principles of this invention, showing the brush engaged on the mouthpiece of a water faucet Figure 2 is an enlarged longitudinal section through the brush showing a frag-men# tary portion of the mouthpiece of the faucet in dotted lines.
Figure 3 is an enlarged transverse section taken online III-III of Figure 2.
As shown on the drawings:
The reference numeral l indicatesa water faucet of any ldesired type having remov- .the mounted ends of said hairs.

ably engaged on the mouthpiece thereof the 'l outer end of an. improved Vshaving brush embodying the principles of this invention, and comprising a hollow handle or shank 2 made of metal or any other desired material. Engaged on the outer end of the handle 2 is a collar or cap 3 made ofV rubber or anyV other flexible material, and having a mouthpiece at 4 adapted to be resiliently engaged on the mouthpiece of the faucet l to form a water tight joint with said faucet. Engaged in the lower end of the handle or sleeve 2 is 'a brush head 5 made of vany desired material and having a plurality of longitudinally directed passages or` apertures 6 formed therein. Secured' in the outer end of the brush head 5 by any desired method or means are the brush fibres or hairs 7 which are arranged in tufts or groups and vare rubber set` or secured in place by any other improved arrangement.
The operation is as follows:
After a shaving brush has been usedV for shaving and the brush hairs are covered with lather and have soap particles engaged between the mounted ends thereof it is necessary to wash the brush, hairs tlo thoroughly clean the same and remove all particles of soap and lather from between 'lVhen it is desired to wash the brush the flexible soA collar'or cap 3 is pushed over the mouthpiece of the faucet l permitting the mouthpiece 4L of the collar 3 to tightly clamp around the mouthpiece of the faucet to form a substantially water tight joint. It is onlynecessary now to turn on the faucet permitting water to flow through the hollow handle 2 and be forced out of the outlet apertures 6 between the mounted ends of the brush fibres or hairs 7. The force of the water issuing from the brush head 5, and x of Ythsinvention, and I therefore do not purpose liifniting the" patent granted other'- WiseV than necessitated by theVA scope of' the appended claims. i l
I claim asiny'rinvention;V 'A I.V A Shaving brush comprising a hollow handlefan apertured brush head Secura-d;` in one end thereof, brush fibres secured in said brush head between saidapertulres, a:- beaded flange formed. on the. otherV end oit' said handle, a flexible*collarV engagedy onsaid handle and heldin place'by said bead flange', and la fleXiblemouthp-ieee formedin said collar adapted to be removably engaged 0n the mouthpiece el: a Water faucet.
2. A shaving brush comprising a hollow handle, an apertured head in oneend otsaid hand-le, bristlesin said head betwen said apertures, a collar secured on ythe opposite end o' said hollow handle, and a flexible mouthpiece formed in said collar to permit the same to be removably engagedover the mouthpiece of a Water faucet.
