BECEPTACLE.
Application filed January 27, 1925. SeriaLNo. 5,009.
This invention relates, generally, to improvements in receptacles; and,.the present invention has reference, more particularly, to a novel and simple, as well as an ornamental construction of receptacle, which is adapted for use as a safety device, into which may be deposited blades of the safety razor type, after such blades have become useless.
The present invention has for its principal object to provide a .novel, simp e and neat device, which may be used in the dressing room, for the reception of used and-discarded safety-razor blades, thedevice com-' prising a mam ornamental casing or shell to be used as a permanent fixture in the dressing room, and a blade-receivin receptacle, nested and removably disposed within said casing or shell, into which the discarded razor-blades are deposited and collected, the filled blade-receiving receptacle being removed from the casing or shell for final disposal of the said receptacle and the blades contained therein.
Other objects of the present invention not at this time more particularly enumerated will be clearly understood from the following detailed description of the present invention.
With the various objects of the present invention in view, the said invention consists, primarily, in the novel receptacle for the collection of discarded safety-razor blades hereinafter set forth; and, the said invention consists, furthermore, in the novel arrangements and combinationsof the various devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction ofthe said parts, all of which will be more fully described in the following specification, and then finally embodied in the clauses of the claims which are appendedto and which form an essential part of the said specification.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of a receptacle showing one embodiment of the principles of the present invention, illustrating in connection therewith, means for the attachment of the device to the wall of the dressing room, or the like; and Figure 2 is a front face view of the said device. s
Figure 3 is a transverse vertical sectional representation of the receptacle; Figure 4 is a top view of the same; and Figure 5 is a horizontal sectional representation of the receptacle.
Flgure dis a side elevation of the receptacle, showmg in connection therewith certam attachments, as a shelf and a razorholdmg rack; Fi ure 7 is a front elevation ofthe device; an Figure 8 is a top or plan view of the same.
Figure 9 is a side. elevation of still another modified form of receptacle embodying the principles or" the present invention.
Sim lar characters of reference are employed in all of the said above described vlews, "to indicate correspondin parts.
Referring now to the said rawings, the reference-character ,1 indicates the complete receptacle, the same comprising a main outer shell or easing 2, usually of metal, although it may be made-of any other suitable material, in which is removably disposed an inner receptacle 3, made of an inferior material, such as card-board or the like. in the accompanying drawings, the receptacles 2 and 3 are shown in the shape of cylinders, but it will be evident that they may be of any other suitable shape.
As shown, the said main shell or casing is closed at one end by a member 4, so as to form a bottom, said member being suitably secured in a fixed position to said shell or casing. The said member or bottom 4; is also formed with a suitably shaped fingerreceiving opening 5, and with a suitable arrangement of upwardly projecting pins or studs 6. The upper open end-portmn of the said main shell or casing 2 is provided with a removable cover 7, formed with an annularflange 8 adapted to be fitted in said open end-portion of the said shell or casing, and provided with a laterally extending pin or stud 9, or similar means, adapted to enter a slot 10 with which the said shell or casing 2 is provided, for holding said cover in a predetermined position for the purposes to be presently more fully set forth. The said cover 7 is also formed with an elongated opening or slot 11 and with a suitably constructed lifting means 12, in the form of a handle, or the'like. I At its rear portion the said main shell or casing 2 is provide with rearwardly extending portions, as 13, bent laterally in opposite directions,'as at 14, said portions 14: being provided with grasping members 15.
A suitably formed fastening plate 16, or the like, is held between the said grasping members 15, said plate being secured by means of screws 17, or other suitable fastening means, to the woodwork of the wall of the dressing room, or the like.
If desired, at the lower end-portion of the said plate 16, there ma be an arrangement of a suitably formed racket 18, provided with a shelf 19, which may be suitably forked, as at 20, for suspension therefrom of a safety-razor.
If desired, in some cases, there may also be attached to the upper end-portion ot' the fastening plate 16, a suitably shaped shelf or tray, as 21, for storing therein unused razor-blades, soap, or the like.
The previously mentioned inner receptacle is closed at its ends by members 22 and 23. The lower member 22 is provided with perforations or holes 24 corresponding to the location of and for the reception of the previously mentioned pins or studs 6 of the outer casing bottom 4, and the upper member 23 is formed with a laterally extending and elon ated receiving slot or opening 25 corresponding to the location of the slot or opening 11 with which the cover 7 of the main shell or casing 2 is provided. The
ins or studs 6, when engaged with the perolations 24, hold the inner receptacle 1n predetermined position so that the slot 25 thereof is properly aligned with the slot 11 in the outer casing cover 7. I
In lieu of providing the receptacle 1 with the means of attachment shown in the herein-above described Figures 1 to 8 inclusive, the main shell or casing 1 may be provided with flanged members 26, as indicated in nigure 9 of the drawings, which are suitably perforated for the reception of the fastening screws 27, for attachment of the device to the wall, or the like.
Of course, I am aware, that various other changes may be made in the general arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as well as in the details of the construction of the said parts, without departing from the scope of the present invention as set forth in the foregoing description. Hence, I do not limit my present invention to the exact arrangements and combinations of the various devices and parts, as described in the said specification, nor do I confine myself to the exact details of the construction of the said parts, as illustrated in the accompanying drawings. From the foregoing description, it will be seen, that I have devised a simple and ornamental device, which is most useful for the collection of discarded safety-razor blades, which are inserted in the slot or opening 11 of the main shell or casing, and then permitted to drop tnrough said slot or opening 11, into and through the slot or opening 25 of the inner receptacle 3, so as to be collected within said tacle may be readily withdrawn for final disposal of said inner receptacle and the used razor-blades contained therein. discarded receptacle is thereon replaced by another, the replacing receptacle being properly engaged upon the pins or studs (5, so that it assumes a iixed position against rotation within the main or outer receptacle. The cover 7 is then replaced. in predetermined position upon said outer receptacle, so as to bring the slots 11 and 25 into alinement, whereby the device is ready to receive another supply of used and discarded razorblades, as will be evident.
