This invention relates to a flag holder and being stamped or cast to provide segmental has special reference to a flag holder adapted tubular portions 12 preferably radially arto be secured to the radiator cap of an autoranged and forming grips for gripping the mobile, staifs of flags supported by the flag holder.
One important object of the invention is These portions 12 serve to hold the staffs in to improve the general construction of deproperly positioned arrangement. Cla1npvices of this character. ing bolts 13 are used to draw the two plates A second important object ofthe invention toward each other so that the flag staffs inis to provide an improved flag holder and serted between them are properly gripped.

In both this form and in the form of showing a fourth modiiication of the device. Figure 2 the plate 11 may be pressed rear- 45 Figure 7 is a detail section on the line 7-7 wardly as shown in Figui-e7 at 22 to allow 95 of Figure 2. space for the flanges 18.
Figure 8 is a detail section on the line 8-8 In the form shown in Figure 4 the material of Figure 6. of the plate 11 is slit with pairs of parallel In each instance the flag holder consists of slits and the metal between the slits is struck a front plate 10 and a rear plate 11, the latter out as at 23 to form a loop in which one of 100 the flanges 18 engage. Obviously, there are the inner end of the slot with the ianges betwo of these loops and the engagement positween the plates, and means to draw said tion of the flanges is clearly shown in Figures plates together.
f 4 and 5. In the form shown in Figure 6 the central flag holding portion 12 of the plate l1 is provided with'a downwardly extending slot 24 corresponding to the slot 19 and enlarged as at 25 to correspond to the portion 20 of the form shown in Figure 2.
In each of these forms the user grips the portions 17 of the clamp to bring their free ends close together and simply slips them into the slot, releasing the grip when the clamp shanks are in proper position.
There has thus been provided a simple and eflicient device of the kind described and for the purpose specified.
' It' is obvious that minor changes may be made in the -formandV construction of the invention without departing from the material Y spirit thereof. lIt is not, therefore, desired to conline the invention to the exact form herein shown and described, but it is desired to include all such as properly come within the scope claimed. Y
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new, is:
1. A liag holder consisting of a pair of plates provided with means to hold the stall of a flag therebetween Yin definite selec-ted positions, one of said plates having a slot extending inwardly from a marginal portion, a bracket having an end portion adapted to fit in said slot and provided with oppositely extending vflanges engaging between said plates on opposite sides ofthe slot, and clamp screws for drawing said plates together.
v 2. A l'lag'holder consisting` of a pair of plates provided with means to hold the stali of a flag therebetween in definite selected positions, one of said plates having a slot extending inwardly from a `marginal portion and abruptlyV enlarged at its inner end, a bracket having an end portion adapted to pass throughfthe outer endlof the slot and spread to fitin said Vslot and provided with oppositely extending flanges engaging between said plates on oppositel sides of the slot, and clamp screws for drawing said plates together.
3. A flag holder consisting of a pair of plates provided with means to hold the stal of a flag therebetween indefinite selected positions, one of said plates having a slot extending inwardly from a marginal portion and abruptly enlarged at its inner end to form a rectangular socket, a bracket consisting of two cooperating strips of resilient metal bowed apart atvone end to embrace an object to which the bracket is adapted toA be attached andfhaving a shank formed of parallel por tions of said strips each having an outwardly turned terminal flange, said Vshank being adapted to pass into said slot and to have its members spring apart to engage the sides of In testimony whereof I alix my signature.
