LAURENCE'W. excess, or LINCOLN, NEBRASKA I TWO-ROW LISTER Application filed June 6, 1927. Serial No. 196,897.
possible for the driver to raise or lower both plows simultaneously or adjust either plow individually with the utmost ease. 7
Having in view these objects and others which will be pointed out in the following description, I .will now refer to the drawings,
' in which Figure l is a view'in side elevation of the two-row lister plow. c d v Figure 2 is a plan view of the same im plemen't. a
The implement frame includes a front beam 10 and two side beams 11. Secured to theside beams 11' adjacent their rear extremities is an axle shaft 12 having, support-V ing wheels 13 secured thereto. The forward end of the frame is supported on the usual caster wheels 14.' The standards of these caster wheels pass through vertical apertures in the castings'l5 which are secured to the forward portion of the frame so as to project forwardly therefrom and the standards are vertically adjustable in these castings by means ofcollars with set screws above and below the bearingsin the castings.
' r I The frame is further reinforced by means of the braces 16 which extend forwardly from oflset portions of the side beams 11 to the "frame. 7 I j The two'plows are secured to plow beams front vbeam'lO to which they are secured by means of bolts or rivets, The draft is applied centrallythrough the castings 17 which are secured to the beam 10 immediately for-* ward of the braces 16. The frame is also provided at its forward corners with slotted members l8 projecting upwardly from the 19 which are rigidly connected together 'at their forward extremities cby'means of the rodor bar 20. The plow beams areeach pro- 'ing braces 27' which are secured vided with castings 21 which project upward-' ly a slight distance from the plow beams and which are provided with apertures for receiving the rod or bar 20. This rod or bar 20 passes through the slots of both castingslS and thus permits up and down movement of the forward ends of the plow beams. Secured to the plow beams attheir rear portionsare castings 22 which are provided with transverse aligning apertures for the receptioniof the rock shaft 23; The seat 24 is secured to both the implement frameand to the rock shaft 23. The seat bar25 to which the seat 24 is rigidly secured extends forwardly over the rock shaft 23 to which it is secured by means of a link 26. The seat is further secured and supported by means of two diverg- I at their lower ends to the axle 12. I
The means. for raising and lowering the plows include a square shaft 28 with con- .nectionsto' theplows and other connections to'a hand lever 29'. The hand lever is pivotally secured to the aXle 12 and it is connected by means of a link 30 to a lever arm 31 on the square s'haft 28. The shaft 28 is further provided'with' twolever arms 32 which are connected through links as ivithth'e plows. The
lever -29is conveniently positioned with reference to'the drivers position and it is ob vious that actuation of the lever29 will raise or'lower the plows about the rod 20 as a pivot andthat the-depth of "plowing can be regu later by means of the lever 29 which also raisesthe plows out'of the 'grounclvandlowers' them into operative positioirfThe lever 00 operates withIthe rack 34 which is secured to the seat bar 25 and which permits locking the plows at any desired height. a
a. The plows are also individually adjustable V about the rock shaft v 23 a'sa pivotso that their su-clrmay be ad usted-to meet individual 0011- ditrons. For this purpose there are provided two'levers35 which are pivotally secured to ther od or bar 20i'adjacent-the plow beams sava es, the levers 35 being to the standards 36 atthe'ir The frame has sec'uredthereto two stand; 7' I .pivotally secured. upper'extremities." c .Tliej 'actuati'on of either lever 35 will," of 1 w] courseyraise or lowerthe front end of the: i Y
plofwflbeam at its side of the implement "to thus tilt both plows. The side members of the frame have arcuate racksi37 with the usual g lever latching mechanism for engaging the 5 racks 37 to latch-thelevers-in any desired position of adjustment,- r r g V i The operation, oflthe lister plow will be tion.v On beginning or ending theiwork in 1 10 the row, the plows are lo'wered'orraised sig multaneously by 'means of'the lever: 29
operating on side hills it usually becomes necessary to alter the, relative adj ustmentof the twoplows and, this 'can'readily be accom-' plished by the manipulation of one orjthe" where the soil variesintextureand moisture; iit isoften roundum the suck of one plow is; greater than that of the other and my lister will be found to be ofthe utmost con i frequently made through' the levers 35.
a struetion and operation will be readily under: stood byjothers skilled; in the art. toiwhich it readily apparent from'the foregoing descrip- 7 other ofthe levers 35., Even on level ground a upstanding slotted brackets, secured to-said I frame at the forward corners thereof -a transverse beam projecting through the-slots of both saidbrackets, a pair of plow beams secured at their forward extremities to said said plow beam being forward of said rear supporting wheels and in alignment there with andra pair of levers secured: to said w 7s transverse beam at the extremities thereof for t lting sa1dtransverse -beam for individually raising or lowering theforward end portions of said plow beams.
