When thedevice is assembled the cutters are secured by the retainer rings 25,35 and 1 48, and by the clamp g action of thesleeve 7 engaged from the stem to the collar 44cand sleeve 36.

A drill bit including a stem having a through channel, a conical-shaped head at one end of the stem having radially'disposed openings, a threaded portion at the opposite end of the stem, cutter members in the head openings having portions protruding from said head and provided with transverse slots, 'a retainer ring on the head engaged in said slots, a sleeve member on the stem engaging the head and the protruding portions of said cutters, said sleeve having radially disposed grooves at'its upper end, reaming cutters in said grooves having portions protruding from the sleeve and provided with transverse slots, aretamer rlng on thesleeve engaged in said slots, and a coupling member" on the threaded portion of the sleeve engaging the protruding portions of said reaming cutters, having a through opening communicating with the channel in said stem.

In a drill bit, a stem including a conical head having a bevelled top face and having openings extended-through its side and top faces, cutter members in said openings havving cutting ends extended from the side face' and grooved ends extending from the top face, a mug seated in the grooves in the upper ends of the cutter members, a sleeve on. the
stem seated on the upper iiace of said head and recessed to seat the upper ends'of the cutter members, and means for retaining the sleeve I onthe stem.- 7 V 5.
