IMPROVEMENT IN LUBRICATING ATTACHMENTS FOROlL-BOTTLES.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 180.036, dated July 18, 1876; application filed March 16,1876,

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLTON JONES, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Lubricating Attachments; and I hereby dcclare the-following to be a full, clear, and exactdescription thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, forming a part of this specification, in which- Figure l is a perspective view, showing the manner of using my device; and Fig. 2 is a vertical section, showing the several parts in detail. v

The object of my invention is to produce a simple and effective device to be attached to an ordinary bottle or other convenient vessel for oiling machinery, or to be applied to any use whereit is desired to eject a liquid substancein small quantities.

In the accompanying drawing, A is a vessel for holding the lubricant. B is a discharge-tube, provided on its inner or enlai'ged end with collars Ct a. The external diameter of these collars is equal to the internal diameter of the opening in the neck of the vessel, allowance being made for their longitudinal movement therein when the attachment is operated. O is a rubber annu: lar cap, having its lower orifice of sufficient size to be sprung over the neck of the vessel, and its upper opening of sufficieut size to embrace snugly the tube B and render the connection air-tight. This cap is secured to the tube B between projecting plates attached to said tube, to retain it in a fixed position thereon. A handle, D, is connected to the tube and extended to the body of the vessel, as shown, for operating it. E is a collar securedto the neck of the vessel, and provided with a loop or guide, through which the bandle I) passes. The device is operated by pulling down the handle, as shown in Fig.1, which produces an inward movement of the tube B, the collars a a acting as apist'on to guide the same into the vessel, and also to compress the lubricant and force it through the dischargetubes. The elastic cap returns the tube to its former position, all of which 'may be readily understood by an inspection of the drawing.

Having thus fully described my invention,

what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

1. A lubricating attachment consisting of a movable discharge-tube,provided with a piston fitting the opening in the neck of a vessel, and an annular elastic cap, for the purpose set forth.

2. The combination of the vessel A, tube B, having pistons a a, elastic cap 0, and operatinghandle D, connected and arranged substantially as shown and described.
