A design roof made up of overlapping courses of three kinds of gles, a first kind having a first color, a second kind having a second color, and a third kind divided vertically in the middle into two equal portions, one portion being of said first color and the other of said second color, whereby design areas of solid color may be laid with straight vertical edges, and inclined edges ofiset by sawteeth only half as large as the exposed area ofa shingle.
3. A design roof made up of overlapping i courses of three kinds of rectangular shingles only, a first kind having a first color, a second kind having a second color, and a third kind divided vertically in the middle into two equal portions, one portion being of said first color and the other of said second color, said shingles being laid with an exposure equal to half their width; whereby design areas of solid color may be laid with straight vertical edges, and with inclined edges ofiset by substantially square sawteeth only half as large as the exposed area of a shingle.
