e This invention relates to new and useful limprovements in a ladys pocketbook. The invention has for an object the provision of a device of the class mentioned which is of simple, durable construction, dependable in use and which can be manufacf tured and sold at a reasonable cost.
The invention proposes a vfront member having pockets for holding'a cigarette case l@ on its outer surface, together with a loop fer holding a cigarette lighter and another pocket for small articles having its opening adjacent a cigarette lighter within the holdv Y y `endfof the front member at a position substantially at the ylongitudinal center line ing loop and'normally inaccessible, dueto the cigarette lighter preventingbending lof the front member while the cigarette lighter -is in place, but accessible uponvremoval. of
Vthe lighter.
For further comprehension of the inven- I i tion, andof the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following.
description and accompanying drawings forming a material part of :this disclosure, and in which:f i w1 Y Figure 1 is a perspective view of aladies pocketbook.constructed according to this invention and shown in closed position.
Figure 2 is a perspective viewof the pocketbook shown in Figui-e1, but in opened condition. Y
Figure 3 is a fragmentary vertical sec- .tional view taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 2.
Figure l is a front view showing a modified form of the invention.
rllhe .pocketbook consists ofv a front forming member 10, having pockets 11 for holding cigarette cases 12, a loop 13 for holding a cigarette lighter 14, and `another pocket 1.5 for small articles having its opening 1 6 adjacent the cigarette lighter 14l and lnormal ly inaccessible, due to the cigarettcvlight-A er 5 which prevents bending of the front member 10 while the cigarette lighter is in place but accessiblenpon removal ofv the lighter. v
The pocketbook iscompleted with areal'` member 17 Aintegral at its bottom :with the front member 10. A flexible flap 18 is integralvwithv the top of the rear.I 'member 17 and may be folded over the front'face ofthe front member to close the pocketbook as illustrated in Figure 1. VVebpieceslQ are attached between. the end. edges of the front and rear members 10 and 17 respectively.
\ The front member 10 consists of anouter sheet 20 andan innerleaf'21., The rear member 17 lconsists of an'o-uter leaf 22 and an inner leaff23.V The connection at the bottoinof the front and vrear members is accomplished by the connection of the` inner leaves 21 and 23-with eachother and the outer leaves 2O and 22 with 'each other.
jAf-rowl of. stitches 24'extend from endto thereof and serves to connect the outer Aand inner -leaves20 and 21 respectively. Rows of transverse stitches 25l and'26 extend from the line of the longitudinal stitches 24 up-` -wards to the topof'the'frontmemben and 20 and 21 respectively; f Y
The pockets 11 are formed between the outerand inner leaves20and 21ofthe front member-and the stitches 24,- 25 and 26.
' The pocketlis also formed by the outer and inner lea-ves320 and 21y respectively and the stitches 24., 25, and-26, but is located between the stitches 25 'and 26 While the pockets llare disposed onopposite sides of the pocket 15. The outer `leaf 20 iscut away, as indicated by referen'ce numeral 27,` providing a space forthe reception of the cigarette lighter 14. `Thus the lighter is disposed substanserve -to connect the innerv and outer` leaves tiallly Within` theopening formed by the `cutawayfportion lof the pocket. The loop 13 vconsists of a horizontalA strip held by transverse rows of stitches 28and28 onto the inner leaf 21. This provides an `opening for the reception of the lighter. A strap'29 is 'attached'y between Athe loop 13and the'inner leaf'u21 serving'to vholdl theli'ght'erV in V'place within the loop. Y A i A lapel or tab 30 is attached upon the free Y edge'of Vthe 4flapk 18 and -maybev'engaged through a strap 31 forming; a-.loop and attached upon the ,front of the outer leaf 20 for holding the pocketbook in the closed position.
In addition," a snap vfastener socket 325 is ar-k ranged uponthelapel 30 and is engageable T AoF-IF'ICE within said holding loop, said pocket being normally inaccessible due to the cigarette lighter and the prevention of bending of the front member while the cigarette lighter is in place but accessible upon removal of the lighter, said front member consisting of an outer and an inner leaf, and means for dividing the space between the leaves into the pockets, said outer sheet being out in the vicinity of the said pocket for the smalll articles by providing a. space for the reception of the said cigarette lighter, the loop for holding the cigarette lighter consisting of a horizontalVV strip stitched upon the inner leaf of the front member with the cut out portion of the outer leaf.
7. In a ladys pocketbook, a front member, pockets for holding cigarette cases on the front thereof, a loop for holding a cigaretteV lighter, a loop for' holding a perfume atomizer, and another pocket for small articles on the exterior of the front member, said pocket having an outer layer cut-away whereby the intermediate portion of the loop is disposedy in the recess formed thereby and having its opening adjacent a cigarette lighter and a perfume atomizer within said holding loops, said pocket being normally inaccessible due to the cigarette lighter and the prevention of bending of the front member while the cigarette lighter is in place but'accessible upon removal of the lighter.
8. In a ladys pocketbook, a front member, pockets on the front thereof, a loop disposed at the front-member for holding a cigarette lighter or perfume atomizer, `and another pocket for small articles on the eXterior of the front member, said pocket having an outer layer cut-away whereby the intermediate portion of the loop is disposed in the recess formed thereby and having its opening adjacent the article within said holding loop, Y
said pocket being normally inaccessible `due to the article while the article is in place but accessible upon removal of the article.
9. In a ladys pocketbook, a front member, a loop disposed at the front member for holding a cigarette lighter or perfume atomizer, and a pocket for small articles on the exterior of the front member, said pocket having an outer layer cut-away whereby the intermediate portion of the loop is disposed in the re cess formed thereby and having its opening adjacent the article within said holding loop, said pocket being normally inaccessible due to the article while the article is in place but accessible upon removal of the article.
