a provide a construction which will fasten together the ends of a chain and at the same time support a depending ornament therefrom.

A still further object of the invention is to accomplish the above functions by a construction formed from a single piece of sheet stock, the same beingvsuitably shaped and bent to provide a clasp of the desired con- ,VVith these and other objects and advantageous features in view, the invention con sists of a novel arrangement of parts more fully disclosed in the detailed description following, in conjunction with the accom panying drawings, and more particularly set forth in the appended claims.

It has been common in the useof neck chains for supporting a pendant or the like to attach the pendantto the chain intermediate its ends and provide a clasp at its ends for joining the same together, in which case there are two lengths of chains used,

one'extending from the pendant to one portion of the clasp, and the other extending from the pendant to the other portion of the clasp, the clasp being situated to be in the back of the neck when the necklace is worn.

By the provision of the ornamental clasp which is constructed as herein disclosed, I may utilizea single length of chain; the same being detachably connected at one end for removal from the neck at a position in front of the wearer where easier access is afforded,

. and I have also provided in the clasp amea ns broken throughout its length. a The lower portion of the body is provided with an extending portion 16 which is folded back to provide a tongue having an enlarged end 17 to engage beneath the-hooks 11 and 12 and close the entrance thereto, as illustrated clear-- ly in Figures 2, 3,4, 5 and 6. This tongue also by its fold or bite 18 provides means for supporting a pendant 19 by rings 20, one of which extends therethrough.

The pendant is of'ornamental configuration, having a lacework member 21 with a gem or drop 22 secured thereto. The pendant is securedto the fold 18 by being passed through the fold and having its ends bent'together; whichis necessary because of'the enlargements l7 at the end of-the tongue.

v The hook ll is providedwith an enlarge ment 23 to prevent easy detachment and make a more or less permanent attachment of the ring 13, the relative sizes of the parts being the intent to remove this ring from the hook, whereas the hook 12 is of suchsize relative to the ring let that the ring 14 may be easily removed from the hook without any stretching of the parts, whereby when the tongue 16 is depressed, the ring 13 will not be dislodged from the hook when it is desired to remove the ring 14 from its hook 12. The tongue 16 at its fold 18 is broad or of considerable width-and prevents lateral movement of the tongue relative to the hooks for strengthening the construction.

A clasp having a body with two separate portions extending therefrom in diverging paths, each folded back to form a chain en gaging portion, and a tongue havin a continuouscurved edge provided on sald body for closing both of said portions and being movable to permit detachment of the chain link connected thereto, said tongue being folded to provide means for connecting a depending ornament thereto, whereby said clasp maybe used for a pendant, and said diverging portions will conform to the direction of the chain connected thereto, v 4. 7. A clasp having a body with two hook portions extending therefrom, and'a tongue provided on said body having a single narrow neck portion connected thereto and an enlarged end for closing both said hooks, and being movable to permit detachment of the chain links connected to said hooks.

A three a point connection clasp for separably joining a chain and pendant, comprising a triangularly shaped body provided with connecting means at three triangularly related points, the means at two points being relatively permanently attached to the parts with which they are associated and the means at the third point being relatively detachably connected to the part with which it is associated, said means at the third point comprisingahook and'a tongue for resiliently closing said hook, the point attached tosaid pendant being symmetricallyarranged with reference-to the otheritwo points.
