Description

y 1932- v ,1. CICOUREL 1,868,563
' KEY COVER Filed April 26. 1950 J ioazzr KNVENTOR ATTORNEY Patented July 26, 1932 UNITED STATES Joann crcounnn or new Yoax, II. it.
' m com Application med April 26,
This invention relates to a cover for the handle part of a key, the general object of the invention being. to provide means for identification of keys by making the covers 8 of different colors or providing the covers with designs.
Another object of the invention is to' make the cover of resilient material, such as rubber, so that it can be slipped over the handle part .0 of the key.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated 5 in the accompanying drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims. I
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which v Figure 1 is a view of a key, showing the cover in place; v
Figure 2 is a sectional 'jview through 6 Figure 2.
As shown in these views, the cover 1 fits over the handle part 2 of the key 3 and the cover'is shaped so as to snugly fit the handle part and as the cover is formed of rubber D or the like, it can be stretched over the handle art as the same is-pressed through the openmg 4 at a part of the edge of the cover. The covers can be made of various colors so that a key with a cover thereon can be easily 5 identified from a key having a cover of a diflerentcolor, or the covers can be provided with diflerentdesigns, projections or the like to distinguish them apart. The drawing a shows the cover formed with a circular row I of projections 5 for distinguishing it from a cover on another key. Of course, the cover is formed with the openings 6 which register Iwith the opening in the handle part of the It is thought from the foregcingdescription that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts,
1980. Serial'llo. 447,888.
provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is 1. A key cover of the kind described, comprising a normally contracted flat hollow substantially circular-shaped body of resilient material to fit a correspondingly shaped head of a key and adapted to be removably fitted thereover, said body having a pen heral opening normally of a size considerab y less 00 than the wider extent of said key head whereby when the body is stretched the opening will permit the insertion of the key head therethrough for snug embracing of the body upon the head.
2. A key cover of the kind described, comprising a normall v contracted fiat hollow substantially circ ar-shaped body of resilient material to fit a corres ondingly shaped head of a key and adapted to be removably fitted thereover, said body having a peripheral opening. normally of a size considera ly less than the wider extent of said key head whereby when the body is stretched the opening will permit the insertion of the key head therethrough for snug embracing of the body upon the head, and means on the body for 1 dlstinguishing a key from another.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
. JOSEPH CICOUREL.
