This invention relates to attachment devices for positioning and retaining pistol holsters in the pockets of a garment.

The object of the present invention is to provide a device of the character indicated of an improved and simplified structure, adapted to position the pistol holster in the pocket and to retain the holster in said position when the pistol is withdrawn from the holster.

The invention consistsin the novel con struction, arrangement, and combination of parts hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.

Two sheets of drawings accompany this application as part thereof in which like reference characters indicate like parts throughout.

Referring to the drawings:

P indicates the pocket of a garment, and 1 indicates the holster of a pistol. The improved holster positioning and fastening device comprises primarily a tubular frame member 2 which is provided with a laterally extending flange part 3 adapted to be removably secured'as by snap fastener 4 or rivets 4' to the holster 1.

In the-type of the invention illustrated in Figure l, a hinged frame consisting of two substantially L-shaped wires 5 having the short legs 6 slidable in tube 2 to the opposite ends thereof, and having the ends of the long legs 5 hinged as at 7 to a bottom wire frame member 8 conforming roughly to the shape of the pocket. A flange member 9 associated with bottom member 8 is secured to the holster as by fasteners 4. The frame In the alternative form indicated in Figures 5 and 7, the frame consists of a rigid U-shaped member 12, rigidly secured to the tubular member 2' and the frame is secured in the pocket by means of slidable tubular rods 14 positioned in tube 2 and having an expansion spring 15 interposed between to force same outwardly and into engagement with the pocket. With this structure, it is preferable to have balls 13 formed on the ends of the tubular members 14 and spring clips 16 may be secured frame 2 adapted to engage these balls when in retracted position to hold same in that position. It will be apparent that when released from said clips, the balls 13 will be forced outward and into securing position against the sides of the pocket.

In the modified form of the invention illustrated in Figure 8 the frame consists of upper and lower tubular members 2" connected at their ends by means of vertical bars 20. Laterally projecting into the ends of the tubular members 2" are the ends of a wire yoke 5 each end of which terminates in a button 21. Interposed between each pair of such buttons is a coiled spring 22, the action of which forces the yokes 5 outwardly against the sides of the pocket P. Spring clips 23 at the ends of the tubular members 2 serve to prevent disassociation of the parts.

What I claim is:

1. A holster attachment comprising a tubular guide frame member, means reciprocable in said guide frame member adapted to engage opposite sides of a pocket, and means for forcing said reciprocable means outwardly with respect to the frame member.

2. The structure of claim 1 with means for detachably securing the tubular guide frame member to the holster.

3. The structure of claim 1 with the means for forcing the reciprocating members apart located within the tubular guide frame member.

4. A holster attachment comprising a tubular guide frame member, two pocket engaging members reciprocable in said tube and an expansion spring in said tube positioned between and bearing against said reciprocable members. a

A holster attachment comprising a tube, means for detachably securing the tube to a holster, a rod reciprocable in the tube, a knob onthe outer end of the rod, spring means in the tube bearing against the rod and tending to expel same, and a clip on the tube adapted to engage the knob to hold the rod in the tube.

6. A holster attachment comprising upper and lower tubes, means for detachably securing the tubes to a holster, a yoke, the ends of which project into the tubes, buttons on the ends of said yoke, spring means in the tubes bearing against said buttons and tending to expel same, and clips on the ends of the tubes adapted to engage the buttons and prevent such expulsion.
