Description

June 13, 1933. TR K 1,913,818
DOUBLE MEMORANDUM BOOK Filed Jan. 8, 1932 INV EN TOR A TTORNE Y Patented June 13, 1933 UNITED STATES KURT m. rnrnrcx, on NEW YORK. N. Y.
DOUBLE MEMORANDUM BOOK Application filed January 8, 1932. Serial N0.' 585,405.' I
' This invention relates to new and useful improvements in a double memorandum The invention has for an object the construction of an article of the class mentioned which is characterized by the provision of a central leaf joining opposite sides of a pair of covers, and leaves in the bends formed by said central leaf and covers.
As a further object of this invention, it is proposed to provide means for holding either one of the covers together with the central leaf so that the other cover may be opened for exposing the leaves of the book.
As another object of this invention it is particularly proposed to support a strip through an opening in the central leaf, to mount snap fastener studs upon the ends of the strip so as to engage through the central leaf, and to mount socket snap fastener elements upon the covers for co-action with the'studs to accomplish holding the covers closed.
A still further object of this invention is the construction of an article of the class mentioned which is of simple durable construction, dependable in use and efficient in operation and which can be manufactured and sold at a reasonable cost.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawing, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
In the accompanying drawing forming a 7 material part of this disclosure Fig. l is a perspective view of a memorandum book constructed according to this invention and shown partly opened. Fig. 2 is a plan view of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a fragmentary enlarged sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 2 but illustrating a modification of theinvention.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view looking in the direction of the line 55 of Fig. 4.
The memorandum book, according to this invention, comprises a pair of covers 10 and may be usedfor a different purpose such as the recordingof birthdays and other data.
In Fig. 3, it should be noted, the covers 10 and 11 are much thicker than the central leaf 12. The purpose of this is to simulate a single book when the memorandum book isin a closed position; that is, the appearance is had that there is but the covers of the book and nothing but leaves inside.
I In the modified form of the device illustrated in Figs. 4 and 5, a means has been dis.. closed forjholding either one of the covers closed upon the central leaf. This means comprises a strip 15 passed through a slot 16 in the central leaf 12 and at its ends supporting snap fastener studs 17. These studs are directed so as to engage through apertures in the central leaf 12 and extended from the other side. Snap fastener sockets 18 are mounted upon the covers 10 and 11 and are engageable with the studs 17 for accomplishing closing of the book. The arrangement allows opening of one of the covers or the other of the covers or both of the covers simultaneously. When it is desired, the strip 15 may be removed by bending the first so that the studs 17 disengage from the central lle6af 12 and next slipping it through the slot While I have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise construction herein disclosed and I the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, What I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is 1. A double memorandum book, comprising a pair of parallel and spaced covers, a central leaf between the covers diagonally joining opposite sides of said covers so as to form a zigzag arrangement, and leaves in the bends between the covers and the central leaf.
2. A double memorandum book, compris- 5 ing a pair of parallel and spaced covers, a central leaf between the covers diagonally joining opposite sides of said covers so as to form a zigzag arrangement, and leaves in the bends between the covers and the central leaf,
said covers being of rigid material,
3. A double memorandum book, comprising a pair of parallel and spaced covers, a central leaf between the covers diagonally joining opposite sides of said covers so as t form a zigzag arrangement, and leaves in the bends between the covers and the central leaf, said covers being of rigid material, and said central leaf being of thin flexible materia 4:. A double memorandum book, comprising a pair of parallel and spaced covers, a central leaf between the covers diagonally joining opposite sides of said covers so as to form a zigzag arrangement, leaves in the bends between the covers and the central leaf, a strip passed through a slot in said central leaf so that its ends extend on opposite sides of the central leaf, snap fastener studs on the ends of said strip engaging through apertures in the central leaf,'and complementary snap fastener sockets upon said covers for engaging said studs.
In testimony whereof I have affixed my signature.
KURT M. PETRICK.
