This invention seeks to provide a novel catamenial belt so constructed that it can be manufactured at a low cost, applied for use quickly and easily and worn without danger of binding or chafing and without the necessity of employing pins or buckles or the like, and which when not in actual use may be folded into a small flat packet capable of being carried about for use when needed without inconvenience or embarrassment.

Vith these and other objects in view which will more fully appear, the nature of the invention will be more clearly understood by following the description, the appended claim, and the several views illustrated in the accompanying drawing.

Like reference numerals designate corresponding parts throughout the several figures In the practical development of the invention, I provide a main carrying or protective covering body 10 of rubber .or rubberized fabric and formed wider at its central portion than at its ends. The body 10 is equipped at its respective ends with securing devlces 11' by which the customary absorbent pad may be secured to position when the device is put into actual use.

It will be observed that the body 10 is sub stantially' rectangular and in itself capable of folding into a flat compact packet. It is an object of my invention to provide a belt for mounting this body which is constructed in such a manner as to enable easy mounting and removal upon and from the person of the user, and wearing in complete comfort both from the standpoint of personal feeling and the mental comfort due to assurance that the device is being worn free from possibility of detection, and which is so constructed that it may be readily collapsed fiat within the edge confines of the body 10 to facilitate folding of the whole device into a compact flat packet.

v more efficiently confine the absorbent wad or p To this end, I provide two elastic straps 12 and 13 each of a width less than half the width of the body 10 at its narrowest point so that they are capable of lying substantially flat and parallel within the edge confines of the body 10 when collapsed and without overlapping.

The straps 12 and 13 are secured at their ends to the respective ends of the body 10 in any approved manner, as by stitching, and 6 are crossed adjacent each end of the body 10 so that the strap which is secured at its ends to the right hand side of the body 10 crosses over and is adapted when the device is worn to pass around the left side of thebody of the 6 wearer, while the strapsecured at its ends to the left side of the body 10 will similarly be disposed to encircle the right side of the body of thewearer.

In order to prevent shifting, twisting and 70' possible resultant pinching or chafing, the crossed portions of the straps adapted to be disposed at the gear of the wearer may be secured together by directly sewing one to the other in flat relation as indicated at 14.

The crossed portions of the straps at the other or front end may be likewise'secured together, but it is preferred to employ a crosspiece 15 sewed across the straps just above the point of angular intersection so as to give body to the device at this point without unduly increasing the thickness of the belt; This arrangement provides a freedom of the straps at the actual point of intersection and yet provides the desired securing function without increasing the thickness of materials beyond two.

The crossed relation of the straps not only facilitates the application of the device for use, enabling quick application by merely stepping into the circle formed by the straps separated, but also tends to slightly cup the body 10 when inuse and thereby cause it to pad.

The simplicity of the device and the ease and economy withwhich it may be manufactured will be obvious to those skilled in the art, and in Figure 2 of the drawing, I have illustrated how handily the same can "Hill be compacted for carrying conveniently and without embarrassment.

I claim:

In a device of the character described, the combination with the pad carrying body, of a mounting belt composed of two hip engaging straps secured at their ends to the carrying body and crossed at points near but beyond the respective ends of said body whereby the strap secured at its ends to the right side of the body is disposed to pass around the left side of a wearer, and the strap secured at its ends to the left side of signature. 7
