Description

July 18, 1933. F w AU 1,918,243 A STOPPER Filed June 29, 1932 INVENTOR Patented July 18, 1933 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE FELIcIE RUGENIR AMRLIR WANPOUILLE BERGAUD, 0F PARIS, FRANCE, ASSIGNOR 'ro GABON CORPORATION, or NEW YORK, N. Y.
STOPPER Application filed June 29, 1932, Serial No. 620,046, and in France July 1, 1931.
This invention refers to stoppers for receptacles and more especially to improvements in stoppers for bottles and flasks. These improvements consist in providing, in the head of the stopper which is exposed to view, a place destined to receive an ornamental design or a trademark and which can be closed by means of a lid or cover, preferably of transparent material. The improvements in stoppers covered by the invention find their principal application for the c l0s ing of perfume bottles and make it possible to impart an artistic character to the appearance of the ornamental design, trademark, or other object which is inserted in the stopper. The stopper, as well as its cover can be made of any suitable material, the cover of the stopper being preferably, but not necessarily, made of a transparent material.
A practical embodiment of my invention 1s represented in the accompanying drawing, in which:
Fig. 1 represents the three parts constituting the stopper, separated from each other, the head and cover being shown in section;
Fig. 2 represents a side view of the stoper; p Fig. 3 represents a top plan view of the stopper; and
Fig. 4 represents a perspective view of the stopper.
The stopper comprises a head 1 and a plug 2. The head 1 of the stopper is provided in its to with a hollow part or recess 3 for receivlng an ornamental desi or a trademark, as for example a smal. plate 4 suitably cut.
The recess 3 is closed after the insertion of the plate 4 by a cover 5 preferably of transparent material.
Where the cover is of transparent material the plate 4 is exposed through the cover for obtaining interesting ,decorative effects for the stopper. The cover can be secured in the recess in any suitable manner. For instance, the cover may be secured by means of an easily removable connecting member or the stopper itself with its cover in position may be covered with a transparent material, such as cellophane. The cover is made removable so as to enable the plate bearing the ornamental design, trade mark or other object to be removed and kept in case the same has a deco rative effect.
What I claim is:
1. A stopper comprising, a head portion having a recess therein, a plug portion integral with the head portion, an ornamental device adapted to rest in the recess, and a cover removably seated in said recess for retaining said device therein.
2. A stopper comprising, a head portion having a recess in its upper surface, a plug portion integral with the head portion and projecting downwardly therefrom, an ornamental device adapted to rest in the recess, and a cover fitted into said recess for retaining said device therein.
In testimony, that I claim the foregoing as my invention, I have signed my name this 20 day of June, 1932.
l-"fiucls sucimz AMELIE WANPOUILLE BERGAUD.
