December 2, 1930 .InGreatBr-ltain comm; (Oi. est-s9) My invention relates to packing containers for various articles and more particularly to such containers for fragile articles such as' incanvacuum tubes, and various other electrical devices comprising sealed containers In the 1 is a perspective view of a container comprising my invention; Fig. 2 is an end view of another form of my invention; and Hg3ha of 1airy invention.
V erringtol'igrhthecontainercomprisesa sheetofstiifpaperiobent intoaV-shapedsection. End stops 11, 12 are provided by cutting slits 13, 14 symmetrically on either side of the vertex 16 and folding in the portions 11, 12 between the slits 13, 14 and the ends of the container, substantially as shown. In like manner a strap 16 is provided in the containerby slitting said container at 17, 18 and folding in the portion between said slits. For the purpose of or removing the article, shown as a tubular incandescent lamp 19, one of the end stops 11, 12 is moved to an inoperative position and the article 19 is then slipped in through the strap 16 against thejopposite stop. 8aidarticle19 is then held firmly between the strap 16 and'the sides of the container and is held against displacement along the container by the end stops 11, 12. perspective view of still another form support said container in a longitudinal axis 25, then along another pair of longitudinal axes diamond-shaped cross section. The edges 28, 29 are fastened together as by gluing. 'A pair of end stops 30, 31 are providedat each end as'hereinbefore described. Thecontainer may, of course, be made of two sheets of material folded at 26 and 27 respectively and fastened togetherat and at'28, 29. The ribs formed at 25 and at 26, 29 may be used to advantage in spacing the container from the interior of the carton by engaging opposite corners of said carton.
The end stops and straps may, of course be produced by means of separate'strips of suitable flexible materialsecured by gluing instead of the one piece construction shown herein.
What I claim as'new Letters Patent of the United States, is:'
26, 27 to form a container of and desire to secure by 1.'A container for a fragile article comprising a channel section, straps of progressively increas ing length from end to end of said container to hold an article therein and end stops extending between the sides of said channel section to prevent displacement of said article along said channel.
a channel section, straps to hold an article therein, folded back'wing portions to yieldingly carton and end stops extending between the sides ofsaid channel section to prevent displacement of said article along said channel.
-2. A container for a fragile article comprising 3. A. container'fo'r a fragile article comprising a diamond-shaped casing engaging said article, end stops to prevent endwise displacement of said article, and ribs integral with said casing for spacing it from a carton.
- 4. A container for a frasile article comprising a V-shaped channel section'made from still paper and having re-entrant end stops formed by displacement of portions of the vertex of said channel section at the longitudinal ends thereof.
5. ,A container for a fragile article comprising a V-shaped channel section made from stiff paper and having reversed V-shaped end stops formed by displacement of portions of the vertex of said channel section at the longitudinal ends thereof.
6. A container for a fragile article comprising a channel section, a re-entrant strap formed by displacement of a portion of said channel section to hold an article therein and end stops extendbetween the sides of said channel section 'to p vent displacement of said article along said channel.
